POI sound alert for Garmin Nuvi 2568LMT

Hello,

I am unable to customize POI sound alerts for my Garmin 2568LMT. I used POI editor 2.7.3 with SOX 14.4.2. I had a doubt with my WAV files so I used sample WAV files found on this site. WAF filename is the same that csv and bmp file (except extension).

The only sound I have is a "dong dong" sound while I expect my WAV file is played.

Do you have an idea of what's wrong?

Thank you for your help.

Thank you

Location and extension

Make sure you have put the sox.exe in the correct location on the computer(poiloader folder) see http://www.poi-factory.com/node/25730

Welcome to POP Factory.Enjoy your time here and feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Proximity Point Alerts Checked?

If you do have the sox.exe file in the POILoader folder and it still does not work you may NOT have the Proximity Alerts for Custom POI's checked as enabled in your settings.

I tried to download the manual for the 2568LMT to give instructions where to check the setting but Garmin does not show the 2568LMT in it's models. I realize it's a European model but I even went to Garmin UK and that too does not show that model. I know the model exists because Amazon UK has it for sale.

You can try looking in Tools> Settings> Navigation> Proximity Points.

Without the manual I'm not sure that is the location but you can try.

Sox is one problem

The only version of sox.exe that works with POI Loader is the quite old version 14.0.1:

http://www.poi-factory.com/node/25730

Newer versions of sox.exe will fail to create custom audio wav alerts with POILoader. The above faq has a link to the required sox 14.0.1. I think older versions of the above faq specifically warned of trying newer sox.exe versions but it appears to be gone in the current version. Charlesd45, what do you think of adding a "use only version 14.0.1" warning to the faq?

If you're having trouble falling asleep some night, here's what's going on with the newer soxes. The important posts are in the last page or two of the thread:

I will add some type of note to the sox.exe that through the use by the membership has shown to work.

Remembering back to the new sox.exe that was introduced by a POI Factory member. It required a extra file to be added.Lots of members including myself thinking they had a new and latest found that in some cases the alert sounded but would sound for something completely different then the file you wanted it for.The old version has stood the time and continues to work.GaryA was the first one to make the old version available. That was some time ago.Credit for introducing how to get voice alerts using wav files goes to Hornbyp.

Yes

Glad you now have voice alerts.May want to drop a note to someone about the SOX 14.4.2. not being the correct version for Garmin voice alerts.

Googled the 14.4.2 just to see what info would come up. See links http://sox.sourceforge.net/Main/HomePage and http://sourceforge.net/projects/sox/files/sox/
