Garmin nuvi 2598lmthd custom poi

I downloaded the poi loader from Garmin, and got the red light camera files from here. Upon connecting my gps to the computer, the poi loader program would not detect my gps unit when I told it to save the poi file to my gps. I then told it to save the file to my computer and it worked. I copied the file to the sd card in my gps and when I turned it on, the nuvi detected the new file and imported it to the main memory. It appears to work, but have not been near any redlight cams yet, so I can't say for sure. I hope this is useful to others who may encounter this. I guess Garmin is not updating the loader as the latest file was from 2013.

Any recent updates?

POI Loader should work on your nuvi.

Welcome

Welcome to the site.

I think Craig has already given you the reason why your device is not being recognized.

We usually recommend the following.

There is a "Learn" button in the upper right of this page next to "red light cameras" that takes you to a Getting Started page. It is worthwhile visiting this page.

To make navigation easy, most browsers provide the following option. When you want to follow a link - but still keep your current page open - you can hold down the "Ctrl" key as you left-click on a link. That action will open a new "Tab" in your browser up on the "Tab" bar. When you then left-click on that new "Tab", you will follow the link - leaving the "Tab" you are now reading open and available to click on and return here.

So, using the "Learn" link, you might try the "Ctrl" - left-click sequence and then return here. You can return by either "X-ing" out of the "Getting Started" page (using the "X" on the "Tab" itself) or just left-clicking on the "Tab" for the page you are on right now.

Note that the Learn Button will give you access to two valuable reference pages -
the "Index" to all of the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) and the Glossary of Terms and Links.

Since you are new here, I encourage you to go through a couple of the Tutorials.

The first link makes sure the settings on your computer are such that you can do more advanced POI loading.

The next link helps you make a backup of your GPS by attaching it to your computer. (NEVER do anything to your GPS until you have a backup). It also assures that you put your (newer) unit into a state where you can see all of the folders there.

Yes after I posted, I saw the other threads. I had just gotten my gps today and of course did all the updates first thing. Then found this site and got the files. After installing as previously stated, I posted my comment and THEN saw the problems with the new timezone map. Thats my luck. Positive side is I got a great deal on the gps at COSTCO! Hopefully Garmin will have a patch really quick.

Garmin fix.

I suspect Garmin will withdraw the time zone V16 update first thing tomorrow, then have a fix shortly thereafter. Sounds like it is just a component numbering problem, so should be easy for them to fix.

And it is Version 15.0 not 16.01

They call it version 16.01 but it is actually version 15.0
