Garmin talk

Well I finally broke down and used Basecamp, and have deleted MapSource from my PC, to create some POIs. No amount of training videos will quell my disgust with the "find address" or "find" functions in general.

I cannot understand why it it so much more complicated than using Google Earth to find a location. Does Garmin even care? I doubt it, but is is a big minus with me.

This just became available for the PC. They decided to make a big jump number wise.

Added a new feature that allows users to purchase map updates from within Garmin Express.

If this has been already covered on here, I apologize. Didn't see it anywhere. I've been meaning to bring this up for a while now, but since one of the software updates, the warning about not using the unit while driving pops up every single time I turn it on now. Never used to do that when I first got it.

Hi. Anyone else have problems trying to sign onto the Garmin "MyAccount" site?

I tried resetting my password several times but it still won't sign me in.

Have a nuvi 2555 installing TourGuide using TuboCCCTool when put in Proximity alerts it works fine when Navigation turned off for indoor use eHowever when using it on the road no luck. setting distant at 100000 ft Have used it before no trouble. missing the boat somewhere. hope someone get me going right way. Thanks for the help

I can't recall, but did the Nuvi 780 include lifetime maps, or did you have to buy a lifetime maps subscription for it ?

Since this is my first Garmin (VIA Nuvi 66) I'm having a difficult time with the different functions, I have figured most of them out but right now I cannot figure out how to enter different categories(custom categories/POI,s) to my routes. I have a number of these categories on my Micro SD card that I use often)Thanks for any step by step help.

Has anyone had any experience with the subject update? i.e. installed and no problems surfaced etc?

I have a Nuvi 66 LMT.
I have a route say from HOME to Washington DC, I have a Custom Category called "Military Bases". I want these bases (all) to show along my route. How do I do it? In both "Where To" and "Trip Planner".

After loading GE 4.0.25.0 I connected my 2689 to GE to see if it would find a new map... but instead it 'took off' and loaded new firmware... V7.5 in the 2689LMT...
Which is fine, but I wanted to back it up first...

This is the second time that this has happened... Fortunately, no problems occurred...

Does anyone have any info on what is new with this firmware??

My new GPS came with Foursquare, and I'm trying to figure out why I would want to use it. I'm not a member of the Digital Elite, but to me the app just doesn't seem very useful, the postings almost look like a dog marking its territory.

Anyone here using it, and if so for what?

I wonder, are there any Garmin GPS devices currently made that are mp3 capable? My 3590LM can only use .wav files. Every file I get from "sounds" section are in mp3 format, so I have to convert. I have a couple I will try to send in .wav format that are really good. One is for the "offbeat tourist attraction" poi, and the other is for "rest stops".

After six or seven years of living (happily!) with my old Nuvi 255W I've purchased one of the 'manufacturer refurbed' 2699LMT-HD receivers. There are a number of sellers of this GPS on eBay and elsewhere for $200.

When I try to download the custom sound files I am only offered to listen to it or (right click) save it as a document. What am I doing wrong???

In the past I had no problem setting up my computer to view the hidden files in the 3790.

Set to view hidden files and folders and drives in Windows 7 and 8.1

The same settings do not seem to work in my new 2797.
Strangely enough the 2797 does not even show as a drive with a drive letter, but it shows up in "This PC" between "Music" and "Pictures", almost like another folder.
