What is "Brute force street name search"?

Improved handling for Google Earth's discontinued support

Thanks for info, I am hoping this part about Google Earth's discontinued support will work with BaseCamp...

It seems the last few versions worked with older versions Google Earth, but GE has auto updates and it not playing together very good.

Same true with GE Pro...which can be downloaded free now.

This was a great feature of BaseCamp and Google Earth, however after my upgrade just now and giving it a run...there seems that the issue is still there and will not work together.

GE and BaseCamp

I have GE Pro and regular installed, and it behaves the same. Meaning that the new BaseCamp will not automatically launch Google Earth. But if GE is already running, BaseCamp works just fine with it. That's just a minor annoyance.

I really *do* like the new option to control the tooltip popups in BaseCamp, though! Including the ability to turn them off altogether. That was a major annoyance.

Johnc is correct about Google Earth

When I open BaseCamp I also Open Google Earth. Just a habit to get into.

I deleted Google Pro and reinstalled Google Earth because I thought it was Google Pro. I haven't bothered to reinstall Google Pro because Google Earth works and I seldom use it for anything other than BaseCamp.

BaseCamp update question

I just received my offer to update BaseCamp.
I updated it and clicked open.
When BaseCamp opened I received a message:
"You have backup data from a previous version, do you want to delete it now? It will free up disk space"

Not knowing what it was going to delete I said no.

Does anyone know what it was going to delete?

Didn't take.

Update went fine on laptop, not so on desktop. Downloaded it then did the extraction and install. A small dialog box says that said Please wait while BaseCamp installs. Did not install. Not like the usual having to agree, then install. Will try the download again.

Update

Downloaded and tried to install through Garmin and inside BaseCamp itself. This worked on laptop but two desktops it didn't take. Only little dialog box as I stated before and the box didn't go away until I clicked the OK inside box. Not sure what happened. Any ideas?

Just my luck.

It seems that I can't install BaseCamp update to my two desktops and I can't install new map to laptop. First time on laptop I had option to install to device or computer or both. Tried through GE. Now option is reinstall to device or to comp. On GE it states 'updates complete' but when I unhook cord to GPS the maps shows the last map 2015.2. On Laptop BaseCamp shows
City Navigator North America NT 2015.3 and
CN North America NT2016.10
when Gps is plugged in. Map 2016.10 is gone when unplugged.
No idea what is happening.
