Here Update

I recall that Here updated its maps weeks before Garmin released 2016.1 (if not a couple months). I checked today on my iPhone, and Here just had another update to its map software. I am not sure how to tell how much ahead Here is with respect to the Garmin mapset, but I assume we won't see another Garmin update for four or five months -- and shortly thereafter, Here should be releasing another update, if not sooner.

Thanks for the info. I didn't get notification that Here map update was available. It's downloading now. Agree that Garmin seems way behind since it uses same maps.

I have Here on my iPhone. I have 5 states downloaded, VA-FL. There is no update for those 5 maps. The Here update they announced had more to do with International Maps than it does for USA.

On my iPhone, I have all of USA downloaded, and I received the update notice today. Not sure which states the download applies to, but it's not merely international. As noted, I only have the USA map downloaded. Thanks.

To make things more interesting, Germany’s biggest auto makers (BMW, Audi and Daimler) have clinched a deal to buy Nokia Corp.’s digital mapping business, beating out rival bidders for some of the vital technology for self-driving cars in a €2.8 billion ($3.1 billion) acquisition.
We shall see what it would affect Garmin's future map updates.
The Nevada map was updated today
I only have the Arizona, California and Nevada maps downloaded to my Samsung S4 and the only map that was updated this time was Nevada.
