CN Europe NT 2016.10 update

 

I have two Garmin devices with CN Europe NT maps:
- nuvi 775 came preloaded with both NA and EU maps.
- nuvi 3790T came preloaded with NA map. I bought the EU map on DVD and installed it on a micro SD card.
I purchased Lifetime Mapupdates for both devices and maps.

For many years I have updated the maps and used these devices in Europe successfuly.

A few days ago, when I updated the NA map to 2016.10 on the nuvi 775, Mapupdater offered to update the EU map to 2016.10 also.
I updated both NA and EU maps to 2016.10 on the 775 without any problem.

Both NA and EU maps are updated on my PC also to 2016.10 and I can use them with Mapsource, or Basecamp.

When I wanted to update the maps on the nuvi 3790T, Mapupdater offered the update 2016.10 for the NA map only, which I have completed without any problem.
I could not find the update 2016.10 for the EU map.

I called Garmin and a Support Personel advised me to download and use Garmin Express to update maps. I told him, that I am using Mapupdater for many years and I just finished updating my nuvi 775 without any problem.
However I did try to use the Garmin Express, but it did not show the 2016.10 EU map update for my 3790T either.

I thought that I will transfer the 2016.10 EU map from my PC (using Mapsource) to the micro SD card in the 3790T.
The 2016.10 EU map is on the micro SD card now, but my 3790T is showing a message: "Can not authenticate maps".
Under the map details in Mapsource I see: " Unlocked" for the 2016.10 EU NT map.

How could I get the 2016.10 EU NT map update for my 3790T ?

Any help would be appreciated.

When you log into my.garmin.com and select "MyProducts", does your 3790 show? if so, click on "Details", then click on "Activate/Unlock" your mapping products. Does this show the Europe maps in either Map Downloads or Installed Maps? If not, I think you need to call Garmin Support again as there is something apparently wrong with your account record.

I see something strange in MyGarmin / My Products / View Registered Products / 3790T / Details / Activate, Unlock Map / Installed Map :

There are two CN EU NT 2015.40 (this the previous EU map update) shown, with two different Code numbers for the 3790T.
All of the other map updates, going back five years, are single items. I have no idea why the latest 2015.40 update is shown twice.
I only updated this EU 2015.40 map once for the 3790T.

I think one of the update Code number is valid and the other one is not. Therefore when I try to update the EU map to 2016.10, the Garmin-Server is picking the wrong previous map update Code number, which is not valid.
For this reason Mapupdater is not offering the new EU map update 2016.10
I will get in touch with Garmin to rectify this problem.

I think you are on to the root of the problem. I have read about similar issues in other forums and usually if you call Garmin support, they can look into your account and fix it very quickly.

That said, it is unfortunate and disappointing that you have to call two times to get this resolved. They should have found the problem on the first call. When you call back, if the first CS rep isn't able to help, be sure to ask to speak to a supervisor to have your problem escalated. I am confident that in the end, Garmin will resolve your problem.
