when do bmp's show up on garmins?

I am just curious, I have loaded some csv files successfully with the associated bmp files onto my garmin nuvi 350. The only problem is I'd like to see them in the map mode when it's navigating to it instead of only when I look up the custom poi and then click "Map". Is there a way to have the icon show up instead of the checkered flag when I am navigating to a custom poi with an associated bmp file?

Also is there a way to have custom poi bmp icons show up on the map when just looking around on the map or when just passing it while navigating to somewhere else? For example, I am driving to my grandmother's house and the GPS is navigating me there. On the way there, I'd like to see all of the custom bmp files I've uploaded in my custom poi's section. Is that possible?
