Yes I loaded the POI loader, and it does not allow me to load the .csv files from POI factory they are grayed out in the list to open.

Do I need to somehow download .GPX files?

.

When you run POI Loader, you will be selecting the FOLDER that contains the files you have downloaded, not the FILES themselves.

Create a folder on your computer for the POI files you want to load and put ALL the files in the folder. Then select the folder when you run POI Loader.

POI Loader

Just download the csv or gpx files you want to load and save all of them into a directory on your hard drive. Next connect your 880 with the USB cable and start the Garmin POI Loader software. Once it has found your 880 then just browse to the directory you saved the files to and you are ready to load them. You do not choose the files but just the directory.

If you choose the manual mode you will be able to decide if you do not want to load certain files and it allows additional settings. The easy way is to just leave it in auto mode and when it is done loading it will tell you and also how many POI's total that were loaded.

Thank you,

I created a folder on my desktop with the extension of .GPX and dragged the files into it and POI loader accepted them.

Replace Nuvi 880 POI files

What is the procedure to replace the POI files that I loaded into my 880 with the newly updated files I just received?

Do I simply run poi loader again and it will overwrite the existing .csv files, or do I somehow delete the existing files on my NUVI 880?

Just run the poiloader again

Just run the poiloader again with all the files in the folder.Everytime you run the poiloader it overwrites the existing files. If you have plans to load lots of files you may want to start using subfolders to have some type of order for your files.See http://www.poi-factory.com/node/8674

Just run poi loader again.. it will overwrite all

here is a link that has MM's explanation of a file structure that must be followed:

http://www.poi-factory.com/node/8674

You have to reload all POI files each time you use Poi Loader.

There are threads dealing with work arounds but until you get a lot of files it is easy to run them all through each time you want to update a file.
