Has anybody seen or used the new GDB-55 (MSN Rx for Nuvi 2x5 series)? They were supposed to be available Aug 1, but I haven't seen one yet.

If you know about the GDB-55, what was your experience? Is it worth the money?

Because of these many advantages over (or in addition to) the folder method.

ADVANTAGES:
1. It's very easy to track what POIs you have on your GPS. When looking at the GPS drive with a computer, you see POIs with names that make sense, not just one 'poi.gpi' file.
2. When you want to remove a POI, you simply delete the file from the GPS using the computer without having to reload all of your other POIs.
3. When you want to test a POI, for yourself or someone else, you can load it without losing your other POIs.
4. When you're away from the computer that contains all of your POIs (like vacation or wintering in AZ) and you want to add a POI, just add it without losing all of your other POIs. (Remember, your POI files are at home!)
5. Once the 'renamed.gpi' is created, either on the GPS or the computer, it can be moved back and forth at will. You no longer need to use 'POI Loader' to install the 'renamed.gpi' POI.
6. You no longer have to worry about again setting the correct alert distance or associating the correct sound file with the correct POI; these are all already included in the 'renamed.gpi' file.
7. If you have one POI that needs updating weekly, like the 'Redlight/Speed Camera' file, you simply update that one POI without losing all of your other POIs.
8. I created a POI that can't be posted because of the personal information it contains. When someone wants it, it is sent as a 'renamed.gpi'. This allows them to install it by simply saving it on their GPS ... no 'POI Loader', no overwriting.

DISADVANTAGES:
1. Requires a GPS that can be seen as a drive on your computer.

Was sadly surprised and very disappointed with what I had experienced in the past with what had been very favorable support from Garmin. Twice now in the last 4 weeks I have wasted loads of my time in an effort to establish why the MSN Direct Traffic & the Nuvi 760, would not ever show traffic issues/icons on the main screen and to provide the "avoid" feature.

Is there a way to save all user data (favorites) from Garmin C550 to my computer? I tried Mapsource (receive from device) and it said "this device has no maps, waypoints, routes or tracks).

I have not been able to find this as an update for my Garmin 260W nuvi.

Please disregard... I downloaded the Web Updater and was able to download voices....

Is there a way to change when the alert sounds off without deleting all my POIs then reinstalling them.

OK, I've noticed that my 650 automatically changes from day to night mode (and vice versa) automatically without a message popping up. When I owned the 350, a message would pop up and notify me, but the 650 doesn't. Is this normal for the 650? Just curious.

I've just started using GeePeeEx Editor several days ago & have been wrestling with several problems I can't figure out. Rather than email Phil, I thought it'd be more beneficial to post my questions here, so that others might benefit from the answers. I'm hoping Phil will also comment in this thread sooner or later also.

I'm pretty new here, and believe me, I've tried searching the FAQ's here and elsewhere without much help, so here it is:

I have a Garmin 350 and I have this nagging problem with my touchscreen. Often times when I touch the screen I get wrong responses... wrong letters, move up or down, or changes screens when I am nowhere near those keys. I have the latest updates. I have recalibrated and reset the thing many times. It doesn't matter if it hot or cold. Any ideas?

Hi all, I'm new here, great site.

My new Garmin 350 was working and playing alert tones and custom MP3s when in the proximity of a custom POI and it just stopped working. I've tried re-loading the POIs, I've re-verified that the alerts are turned on.

I am very new to this and I can't figure out how to put sound or a icon in the rest area file.
I downloaded the rest area file to a folder i call download and then i went to the icon area and downloaded rest area 1bmp to my download file and i did the same with the sound file so now i have 3 files in "download" now what?
How do i rename them?

It was a gift so I can return it for credit. Might have to step up to a better model with Blue tooth and actual street talking but I am not sure yet.

I can't decide to buy a Garmin Nuvi 255W or 260W which is better?

I just purchased my new Garmin 660w and found that the maps loaded are missing many roads in my area. I registered my nuvi and it stated that I have the most up to date maps. There are roads missing that have been in use for over a year and a half now.

Hi! I'm planning a trip to maine and desparately need help as I'm not techno saavy and have never done this before.
I downloaded POI rest stops along Rt 84 and it entered my nuvi under "extras". Question: Can I down load only specific destinations instead of the entire POI? How is this done?

I will be starting rehab on my knee today, and my doctor told me that I could start to ride my bicycle.

I have been using the TTS Editor and really enjoy the versatility it gives the user. While my question is probably answered somewhere on this site I need help locating it or maybe a quick answer. If you delete the extra voice files from your unit will there be any additional space made available for use by the user.
