Garmin talk

I've had several routes that were created by Mapquest and tried to send via the send option rejected. That is sometimes with multiple waypoints Mapquest says it can't communicate with my device. I called Garmin and they said they don't advise to use Mapquest. They had me make sure that my computer is seeing the device which it does.

anyone still having a very slow start up on Nuvi 760? i have 4.2, if not, what did you do to rectify, i heard hard restart, i forgot, cant find how to do that. thanks

Recently I have noticed that the Garmin Mount between the back of the unit (680) and the ballhead from the Garmin Bean Bag mount has become loose and the unit keeps pointing down. Anyone else have this same issue. I was thinking of putting same tape on the ballhead or something else to tighten up the space, any suggestions?

I am on the road today. I will be going to to Lawton VA. to pick up the Auto Train to Florida. I am in Woodbridge NJ for the night. I have driven this route for the last 4 years and I used AAA Maps. The maps still to this day avoid the GW Bridge. So, I wanted to avoid the GW bridge in NY and use the Tapinzee Bridge.

My Garmin came without a folder called mp3. I know you have to make a folder with this name and put your .mp3's inside.

Will the Garmin read .mp3 files inside subfolders? In other words can I make a folder for each album inside the mp3 folder and access them from the Garmin, or do I just have to make playlists?

I have a bunch of audio books in .mp3 format. Does anyone know of any way to convert them to .aa so they're bookmarkable? Or is there a way to convert them and play them as bookmarkable .mp3 files on the Garmin?

I got one of those 270 freebies from Discover and intend it to be a gift for someone out of state. Is it a bad idea to go ahead and setup the GPS with my local data, or should the GPS be left in virgin status? It's going to be a good month or more before giving it. Thanks.

Are there any GPS units out there that will play movies. I have a factory gps in my 4-runner it will only play if truck is in park and the brake is on?

So my Garmin c580 began downloading and updating its firmware the other day and I was like ok? so it finished and then began a "bluetooth firmware update" but it sat at 0% for my entire 20-25 minute journey. I work on PCs for a living, so I know the danger in interrupting a firmware update so I left it turned on while I went to work.

Has anyone had success with adding stock symbols to their nuvi with MSN Direct? So far, I've only gotten 1 to work, other than Garmin GRMN itself which came already added. Every other symbol I try throws the error "No information available for this stock symbol."

If so, about how much, and can I do it using toe POI application from Garmin's site? POI loader I think?

How can I find the firmware version that is installed on my 260W? I just read that there is a new version available but it is not listed in the Webupdater when I connect it.

I just received a Garmin Astro 220 to Geocache without losing my dog in the process. I have figured out how to find the dog and how to download caches, but I can't figure out how to enter the coordinates of subsequent caches in a multi-cache. This is supposed to be the GPS 60CSX updated to receive the signal from the dog's collar.

Does anyone have any input on the Garmin 265wt unit, and what about MSN extended service available with this unit.

I'm confused. According to the many threads on this subject, I have learned that GARMIN uses NAVTEQ maps for their latest updates.

I bought my NUVI 350 over a year ago and it came with 2008 maps. I want to wait to buy an update until the maps in my area are truly updated.

I checked today with NAVTEQ:

I have a Nuvi 350 with firmware version 5.6 and I learned there is a new version available 6.0.

Do you know if 6 is better than 5.6? If so, how is it better? What improvements will I see?

I set up alerts for Peets Coffee and Chipotle Restaurants, using the same alert distance. It so happens that in my city, there are two of those stores right next to each other. When I drive there, no matter from which direction, the GPS alerts only for Peets but never Chipotle. Is this normal, or is one alert "buried" under the other, so I see only one when in fact there are two? Thanks.
