Garmin talk

does anyone know if you can load red light camera locations to the garmin 350 & how.I just joined poi a few weeks ago & hope I find tha same forum with the answer . Im not the greatest on the comp. Thanks Leonardkb

When using a SD card in addition to the existing memory within the Nuvi unit, the manual notes to format the card. Does this formatting procedure make the SD card use specific to the GPS unit? Or can I use it for a different electronic device i.e. digital camera without reformatting? Any experience appreciated.

Used my new 1490t this past weekend for a trip down to the beach (panama city, FL), We take the back roads as it is quicker and virtually no traffic. But even with avoidance set it was trying to send me down dirt roads left and right and the routes it was trying to give me had I followed them would have added 40 + mins to the length of the trip.

I've searched and searched and cannot find anything on showing the Distance between Waypoints.
Anyone know how to do this??

Hi Folks,

I'm thinking about getting a Nuvi 3790T and retiring my Nuvi 660 because by the time I update the maps on the unit and replace the internal battery, I will have paid for nearly half of the 3790T. So my question is, has anyone heard anything good or bad about the new unit?

I was in downtown Vancouver,BC the other day. I had both units on side by side. The 650 showed all the hotels and buildings' name, plus the up coming street name...The 1490T...nothing!

This is my first post. I have a Garmin Nuvi 750.
I have tried everything I know, including Motercycle Mama's helpful and
well written instructions on preparing icons for the POI's. I am still having
problems. I have even thought that I should try a .jpg instead of a .bmp
file designation. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I can't seem to find any info on this, but is the 765T able to accept tracks in addition to way-point routes?

MY Nuvi gave me a terrible route coming home from North Carolina. I had just upgraded to the latest maps before I left on the trip (City Navigator North America NT 2011.1). When I got home, I tried this route in Mapsource, and got some insane results!

Try this. First, make a waypoint for Hartford, CT and another for Aurora, NC.

Is there anyway to catagorize the favorites area of a Garmin nuvi 660 and nuvi 765T. I travel allot being a bus driver and it would be so helpful to be able to put favorites from each city into a folder for that city. I have that in my customs POI folder... Now I just need to have it in my Favorites...

BTW Ill keep my 660 over the new 765t anyday.

It's He** getting old. I have a NUVI 265wt and the Extra Icons are almost to small to see the design. I just had my eyes check and there 20/20. So it might not be me. Is there any way to enlarge the Icons?

If I bought a new Traffic receiver would I have to purchase a new subscription. I had one from my 660 which is being used by my daughter and still in my name I would like to use it on my 885?

I was informed by someone in Canada that Staples offers a downloadable map for Garmin Nuvi that has the Carribean countries.
I am looking for Guyana and Brazil especially.

Does anyone have any info regarding this?

I will be contacting Staples on Tuesday to verify this info, however I though to ask if any of you are aware of this.

i just bought my garmin 465t ,for truck mode it say max of weight per axle ....that mean one weight for a axle or total weight for each axle???

Never had traffic in my area before. This morning I turn the GPS on, Nuvi 265t, and had the icon. It stayed green all and never got an offer for a coupon whenever I stopped. Is there a way to tell if it is for traffic in my area or somewhere else? The reason I ask is after touching the icon, then choosing search traffic it has places about 122 miles away showing green.

I bought a 765T at Christmas time. Works great and I am very pleased with it. However I have noticed a glitch. Sometimes I just want to listen to mp3s (using the FM transmitter) when I am driving within the city, without using the GPS for directions. Every so often, the FM transmitter refuses to work till I punch in a destination in the GPS.

Since yesterday (05/27/10) I have been unable to transfer locations from Google Maps to my Nuvi 760. The send function button is shown, but when I click it and proceed to GPS, it just sits there. I also noticed that the option to input the phone number was missing also. I have never had this problem before and was wondering if anyone else out there was seeing this?

Garmin Nuvi 500:

I have a 770 and I am thinking very seriously of buying a new 500. It is waterproof, handles hiking, biking, boating, you name it. On sale at Costco for 199.00 plus for another 100.00 you can add lifetime map upgrades and traffic.
Does anyone have one of these? If so, how do you like it?

It looks like the new Europe map is just out, it wasn't available just a week ago. Quite a lag behind the 2011 North America.
