Nuvi 750 Power Cord and Mount Problem

I have a garmin nuvi 750 that is about 18 months old. It uses the wider (non USB) power cable that must be plugged into the mount, to connect to the GPS. Something is wrong with this. The power doesn't connect to the GPS unless I wiggle the cable. When the power does connect, it is only briefly. Do I replace the power cord, the mount, or both? Any other ideas about getting it fixed.

Thanks

Power cord

Sounds like a power cord problem, Have you called garmin to ask about it? They have excellent customer service.

.

I would suggest the mount. The reason? The cable is stronger than the fragile mount it attaches to.

Thank you

Thank you for the feedback. The wait for Garmin phone support is now 30 mintues, so I'll hope my email gets returned soon. I still haven't found out or decide what I should do.

The Garmin power cable is $28. The power mount, with suction cup is $48. The Garmin prices are pretty steep. If I wanted a map update, that would bring the total to over the price for a new Garmin 255W. So, I'm considering non-garmin replacement items. I might see if I can determine which of my two items needs replacing, rather than buy both of them.

thoughts

Monday is the worst day to call Garmin customer support. Everyone's units go south over the weekend. Try calling them midweek, and in the afternoon (Central time).

Also, does your power cord have an LED light that glows when you plug it in? If that's coming on, the problem is probably in the mount. That was the problem with my 760, though I use a beanbag rather than a suction cup mount, so I only had to replace the cradle, as Garmin calls it. Only 14 bucks.

And, just in case, if you haven't already done so, check the fuse in the plug. But be very careful not to lose any of the little parts when you open the tip, and make note of how the little parts come off so you can put them back on right when you're done.

Great Support

Garmin sent me a power craddle mount for free and that fixed the problem. My email to them was over last weekend, and the fix is complete 4 days later. Excellent service.

Excellent

That cable to cradle point has always worried me as it not only feels fragile but the weight of the cable etc is always tugging at it.

Glad they fixed you up.
