Garmin talk

What is the difference between Garmin's red light poi's and POI Factory. I downloaded the free test version of Garmin's an it seems good. Will the ones from POI Factory give you a on screen warning as does Grarmin's? Thanks for the help.

When I fire up my 255W it says "Cant unlock maps" never said that before, and I havn't added any maps on it...still has the 2009 version. I am able to find addresses now. Can I rectify this? Or what does it mean? Or what do I do? Thanks...

okay, i'm new at this... ive downloaded one of the vehicles onto my computer in "vehicle. but cant get it to go on to my gps. any suggestions would be helpful. thanks... helenea

-Fixed issue where occasionally Ciao position was not updating automatically if the user did not go into the Ciao application.
-Added a one-time retry for sending transactions that fail due to poor network signal quality.
-Reduce the max size of some of the uploads.

I just purchased a GPS unit for the first time (Garmin nuvi 255 refurb)

It's all a bit daunting but this website has made the whole experience much easier.

I have spent a while searching for the answers to various questions I had.

I have uploaded various POI files that I feel will be useful on a big cross country road trip we are taking this month.

I formerly owned a Nuvi 780 units, which I believe relied on the MSN receiver for time zone adjustment. Within the past year I purchased Nuvi 775T and 1260T units which have built in time zone recognition without an MSN or traffic receiver. While I have traveled to different time zones with my new units, my routes have been all within the same time zone.

I have a garmin nuvi 750 that is about 18 months old. It uses the wider (non USB) power cable that must be plugged into the mount, to connect to the GPS. Something is wrong with this. The power doesn't connect to the GPS unless I wiggle the cable. When the power does connect, it is only briefly. Do I replace the power cord, the mount, or both? Any other ideas about getting it fixed.

I just downloaded the lastest sofware updates 2 days ago. Now when I am in the car my Garmin 1690 powers on and off continuosly. Has anyone else experienced this problem. Date of download was Wednesday, 2 June 2010.

My wife was wondering if there is a POI or other type of program that she can easily use to create a custom route for garage sales?

Hello all:

In using my Garmin 885T I was noticing the large number of buisness POIs in residential areas. It seems to me not many people would want them to show up in a search of nearby businesses. For instance, if I am looking for automotive parts, I do not want to go to the residence of someone who runs an internet auto parts company from his home.

So I need help. I am trying to decide between a 265WT and a 765T. The 265WT is $120 and the 765T is $160. What would you do?

After two 755T, one 765T and now a 1390T, I am convinced that Garmin is making JUNK. It had been working great. I even took a trip to Maine for a long weekend and everything was fine. Tonight, my screen froze on the way home from a short ride. I tried to shut it off and when I did, it started to flash the GARMIN name on the screen.

Nuvi 650 w/ v4.9

Recently updated to new maps and space is tight.

I've already backed up and then deleted extra voices from internal memory to fit the new map (1.3GB)

Have several 1GB SD cards that are not being used, but
are too small to host the new larger maps.

I know you can move maps and poi to external memory, but can voices and vehicles be moved to the SD card also?

ON my 265WT it has the free ad based traffic. Up until yesterday I hadn't gotten any ads in the GTA. But now I've gotten a couple for Sears. (Got a few when I was in Sarnia last summer near the US boarder). Not at all obtrusive, just an FYI.

New version 2.40 firmware update is now available for the newest and just recently released built in Model KNA-G610 Garmin/Kenwood Automotive Navigation unit.

I purchased a new 265WT, first ever GPS, and for a single motorcycle ralley I am running end of the month. All I really need to do with it is set the route with waypoints for each leg, (3), of the rally. Hitch is I have 15 min.
