Garmin talk

I have a 885T I know you can turn up the volume by holding down the battery icon and that will take you to another screen, but i don't remember how to turn the vol up. The sound on the bluetooth is real bad.

So I remember seeing the 1690 come out and then it looks like the 1695 is out. Not much else, though. They seem to be releasing another line or two and nulink is nowhere to be seen.

It looks to me like the 1690/1695 were sort of test marketed with nulink and, for better or worse, people don't seem to want to pay for the extra services so we won't be seeing much more in the way of nulink.

I just bought the 265wt and went to the Garmin site to update the unit with the Onetime™ City Navigator® North America NT 2011*.

Once I get to the map update section, it tells me that I only have enough space for Canada and US border states.

I currently have a 760 that has been out of commission for a few months (too cheap to buy the windshield mount and cable which was broken by a folding seat).

I am new to the GPS world, but I am pretty good/quick at figuring things out. I just bought a Garmin Nuvi 265WT. So far, I am happy with it, but I have one disappointment with it.

Does traffic re-routing only work if the traffic icon is red?

I just bought a C340. When I load .wav files along with .csv files with same name, I only get attention tone. I
didn't hear saying "Redlight Camera Ahead".

Am I doing something wrong?

I'm approaching the end of my return window with Amazon and need to decide if this is the best unit for me. So far my 855 has restarted a couple of times, no big deal. I am concerned a bit that this might be a bigger problem in the heat of the summer. Hard to test this in our current cold weather.

My wife and I both have a Nuvi 1490T. I just did the 2011.3 map upgrade plus new software on both. On mine it worked fine. On hers it did the upgrades but deleted all her favorites (and default added 3 Garmin office locations...thanks for nothing!) What did I do wrong? It also defaulted the screen settings, the trafic icon, and a few other things back to factory specs.

I have a Nuvi 1300WT GPS. The 12v vehicle to GPS power cord is a GTM 25, which has a built in (in line) traffic receiver, located about 6 inches from the GPS power plug connector.

If you hold the traffic receiver horizontally (while looking at its thinnest edge, with the end that attaches to the GPS to your left), you will see a 1/8" hole approximately 1 3/4" from the left side.

I had my 1490T set to No U-Turns and was navigating to a set location. The location was on the left side of a divided road and I was on the right. There was a turn around less than 100 feet from the location - I rolled past the location to the turn around and the Garmin started re-routing me to a limited access parkway a mile ahead - not sure where to.

Has anyone had problems with their 3790 overheating? I've never had a problem with my other units but a couple of days ago mine shut down and when I tried restarting it (I wasn't able to for a while) I noticed it was very hot. I'm sure the heat was just from the it sitting in the sun, but I've never had that shut down a unit before in all my gps years.

I was driving with my Nuvi 350 when all of a sudden lost sat signal. I went to signal strength page and all signal bars gone. Later I found when I put the antenna down the signal bars come on with "GPS OFF" stated on the top of the page. This appears to be working backwards of antenna position. Has anyone ever seen this before and if so a possible fix.

Got a bunch of waypoints in an old Garmin 3600 that I would like to convert to custom POIs for my new 1390T. I cannot remember the name of the format Garmin uses for the location. Is there a way to convert that old format to latitude and longitude?

I just replaced my battery in my 250w nuvi .it wasn't to bad but the flat wire strips came undone from there anchors and I had no clue what was up, so with a magnifier and some fiddling I figured out the tiny little clips that lock the cables in and reassembled it and it works.The instructions did not say anything about them and they are real delicate and fiddly .

Interesting experience this past weekend. SWMBO and I were in NE Tennessee. While driving around Lake Watauga, Karen (that is the voice I have selected) continually attempted to route me onto the Appalachian Trail. SWMBO said NO WAY with her Impala!

GARMIN 465T WILL NOT CLEAR ADDRESSES ANY HELP APPRECHIATED

I've installed several custom POI files (Walmart, Rest Stops, Flying J/Pilot, & others) to my Garmin 765T. I also have the bmp file & alert file for several of them. I've renamed the bmp & mp3 files to the same name as the POI file. I can open all of my custom POI files & choose any POI as a destination & the GPS calculates a route.

After updating the unit to the lastest firmware, I was able to transfer poi files and then safely eject the unit from the computer. The poi files were retained. Nice not to have to just remove the usb cable while the unit is still showing on the computer.
