Yes, in C:\Garmin

Have you checked to verify both files have same name?

A couple of other things might be happening, like double extensions.

First, please go to this FAQ and follow its instructions. If you hold down the "shift" key while clicking the link, the FAQ will open in a new window so you will have this window still open.

I assume that you know that the "sound" file must be named exactly the same as the POI file. If not, then go make the name the same except that the sound file will end in .wav (your unit can not use .mp3 files)

Try again and see if you get the alert you want.

I use to have a 340 and I never got the to work with wav files.Couple other members on site got same results.

the .wav files work fine !

I have a C340, and it had never been able to utter any .wav sounds. Been since replace by a 765t.

Yes, Charles. Works fine on both Nuvi 255W & 265WT. I got this c340 from ebay recently since my C330 was stolen. Well, it's my luck then Thanks for all replies. I thought I was doing something wrong.

Good luck.The c340 is a nice unit.A little limited on space for custom pois.So you have be selected on what you install.I didn't use icons to save space.Like you no problem setting up wav for the 265.Curious what MrKenFL done on his 340 to make it work.

Been almost 3 1/2 years since I bought and set up my C340. I haven't really used it in 2 1/2 years other than to update Custom POI files before we leave on trips. Sorry !
Like I said - it's only a backup I keep in my tool box in the trunk of the car.

This is my main gps and I have only uploaded .csv files as I was informed when I got it that was the correct file to use.

I use only .CSV files. To be exact - RLC, Speed Cam & Rest Areas.

BMP Icons show on the Map. Even though I named the .wav files same as POI Files (CSV) .... Still doesn't work.

I don't use anything other than .csv files on any of my units and the vocal alerts work on both my C340 and nuvi 260+

As you have been using voice alerts on your C340 for several years, could the difference be the version of SOX?
