Which External Traffic Receiver Antenna Do/Can I Use..?

Hi all..

I have a Nuvi 1300WT GPS. The 12v vehicle to GPS power cord is a GTM 25, which has a built in (in line) traffic receiver, located about 6 inches from the GPS power plug connector.

If you hold the traffic receiver horizontally (while looking at its thinnest edge, with the end that attaches to the GPS to your left), you will see a 1/8" hole approximately 1 3/4" from the left side.

I take it that this hole is used to attach a external GPS antenna. This being the case, my question then becomes..

"Which External Traffic Receiver Antenna Do/Can I Use..?"

Thanks for all your insightful answers.

I believe

I believe that is where you insert an object to force a reset of the receiver rather than a connection for an antenna.

My unit has a siamese cord, one being the traffic antenna, the second being the power/data connection to the Nuvi.

.

The hole on the GTM 25 (and GTM 35 as well) "pod" is not a reset hole but indeed an external antenna hole as the OP mentions. The antenna is NOT for the GPS but rather an antenna to improve the GTM's traffic reception. Overseas units come with this antenna included since the FM radio signals used for traffic there are weaker in output than here in the US.

You can purchase the antenna directly from Garmin here:

I didn't realize (but now that I think about it, after you've mentioned it), the hole would be used for the traffic reception and not the GPS.

Once again.. Thanks!
