SET LOCATION

I have a 3790lmt. The manual show how to Set Location, but, doesn't show how to Unlock Set Location.

Well, you usually have to put the GPS into simulation mode by turning off the receiver. Just turn the receiver on again, or reboot it.

When you say "turning off the receiver" what do you mean. Do you mean the GPS.

When you put the GPS into simulation mode, the sat receiver gets turned off so you can set a location, right?

The quick and easy answer is to do a re-start (reboot) of the GPS. It'll go back to receiving the sat signals again.

Simulation mode

When you turn on Simulation Mode on your GPS it automatically turns off the satellite receivers. In Simulation mode you can use Set Location to place you vehicle at different places on the map by touching spots on the map or using POIs or Favorites to go to different locations. This is great for simulating all kinds of routes, alerts or trips on the GPS before actually going anywhere. Saves on a lot of gas.

To turn the satellite receivers back on and use the GPS again just turn the Simulation Mode off or turn the GPS off and back on.

Went back to main menu and hit stop, and that did it. back to normal again.

GPS

I believe Juggernaut was talking about the GPS receiver. When you place your unit in "simulation" mode - Tools > Settings > System > GPS Simulator > On, you stop the device from "receiving" a GPS signal.

When I turn my 765 off and then back on, the unit will set itself to the default of GPS Simulator off. You could also Tools > Settings > System > GPS Simulator > Off.

set location vs go to

Sounds to me like you are mixing up “set location” and “go to”.

If you are in simulation mode and tap a place on the map you can choose “set location” and that will place your vehicle at that point on the map.

You could then tap another point on the map and choose “go to” and that would take you on a simulated drive from the set location point to the go to point.

To stop the simulated drive before reaching the destination, you would tap “stop”.

If you let the simulated drive go all the way to the destination point it will automatically stop navigating (and the Stop button would no longer be availabe on the main screen).

Either way, your vehicle will wind up being located at the point where the simulated drive stopped. Which will have effectively "set" a new location.

Simulated

You guys are making my simulated hair follicles tingle on this one.... Great reading though!!!
