Garmin talk

I am giving some thought to a handheld Garmin GPS. It would be used ATV/UTVing, e-biking and when we travel outside of the United States. As handy as Google Maps/Waze, etc. are, there is still something to be said for a device that works without a data connection, particularly traveling outside of the US, ATV/UTVing or ebiking.

I have old Nuvi 885 that still works, the only problem I have is when i try and update I get a message that there is to much information to installed. If I were to Delete the map that is already installed then install New version would that work? I had this problem once before and was able to update but I forgot what I did.

Can someone tell me the difference between a Garmin 2797 and the drivesmart 86.
My 2797 still works , i was thinking about upgrading, is it worth it?

I just updated my map to 2025.20
Looking at the MAP folder there are 2 sets of files.
D9644070A.gma and .unl dated 3/18/24
D9644080A.gma and .unl dated 1/16/25

I assume I can delete the old ones, but I thought I would check to verify my Nuvi doesn't need them.

It will be interesting to see if Garmin is planning a new line of Garmin Rinos or a firmware update on the existing Rinos.

My wife and I traveled from the Minneapolis-Saint Paul MN area just after Christmas to Gulf Shores AL. I chose to leave my Garmin at home just to see how things would go without it. Our Ram 1500 has Android Auto, so it just needs a smartphone to connect to it. I have a spare Google Pixel 6 with a T-Mobile data SIM card in it.

The Foursquare app on IPHONE and Android is no longer working does anybody know what Garmin is going to do about it.

I just downloaded the Route 66 .gpx file of POIs from this website and opened it in Basecamp. Is there an easy way to just create the trip route by importing these waypoints into a new trip, etc.? I've always found Basecamp to be extremely un-user friendly.

I created a number of waypoints for a future trip, but I find that the range of symbols is quite limited.

For example, I have a Bakery, a Bookstore & a Monestary.

I'm regularly getting pop up ads for local businesses while navigating a route. It only happens on local roads or 2 lane highways, and so far, not while driving interstates. The ads include a navigable route from my location to the business

A Happy New Year to all.

I have a Garmin DriveSmart 61 LMT-S.

Years ago I uploaded self made routes using Garmin BaseCamp.
Yesterday I used 'Drag and Drop' into the "Internal Storage" and using "Send To Device". I can delete these routes as normal.

I am having a problem of not being able to delete the year old ones as there is no "Delete" or "Remove" button showing in BaseCamp.

I can't find the recent thread discussing what GPS to buy, so here's a new thread.

Garmin Express is dependent on an updated C++ 32 bit (x86) even if you're on 64 bit Windows.

Driving on 4-5 lane expressway:
“Caution!”
“Reports of something in the road 5 miles ahead”

That is something I’ve never heard before!

We eventually came across a metal or plastic garbage container spinning around 3 lanes to my left, and, a round (Metal?) lid rolling left to right across the highway.

I noticed an issue with my Garmin DriveSmart 65 With Amazon Alexa this past Sunday. I was using it to plan a route to a bike shop. When I back to my vehicle a matter of minutes later, all of my Saved POIs had vanished. The Recently Found locations contained a mix of a few places that I had traveled to, but many locations that I had never knowingly saved!

I have a BC 30 backup camera for my garmin GPS. The camera has gotten wet inside and is all blurry. This has happened before as this is my second camera. I need to replace the camera only. They discontinued this camera and nothing else works with my GPS. I'm thinking of a generic camera off Amazon. I know the connector won't be the same as the BC 30 has a single connector with 4 wires in it.

My wife and I are buying an RV. I am starting to give some thought to navigation when we travel with that. I know that th ere is a Garmin RV series. One of the features that most interests me is the ability to customize a route based on the vehicle dimensions. For anybody here that uses a Garmin RV, how well does it work out for you?

I have a new Garmin DriveSmart 76 to replace an old Nuvi. I also use my Pixel 7a with my car's Android CarPlay system with Android Auto.

I haven't set up Garmin Drive as I wasn't sure using the DriveSmart 76 with Garmin Drive would pre-empt use of my Pixel with my car's Android CarPlay system. With my Nuvi, it was one or the other but not both.

Any thoughts appreciated!
