New Extras data found on card...

When I turn on my GPS (DS55, 2495LMT, 1390T) I get this message: New Extras data found on card. "Would you like to install this data so that it will be available if the card is removed". If I click on "Yes" it installs. Anyone know how to delete this data once it's installed without having to do a factory reset on the GPS?

I would think...

I would think that whatever is getting "installed" is simply being copied from the "card" to a folder within the /Garmin folder on the device.

If you have a backup of the unit before this data is installed, you could see what files/folders have changed since the install.

This would also be the case if you were wanting to delete this data from the card as well.

You may be able to go by the timestamps of the folders and files to deduce what the new files are exactly and go from there.

Think you...

can delete the POI data in the device (or on an SD card) using POI Loader. Don't have a GPS available or I'd give a step-by-step. Poke around with POI Loader and see what you can find.

GPX source files?

I have seen this happen when users incorrectly have copied POI files in GPX format from this site directly to the SD card instead of using the POI Loader program to load them. They then get installed as waypoints or favorites instead of POI's.

I'm not saying that is what happened with you, but it is something worth checking.
