Garmin Express v7.26.0 is available for PC

Garmin Express v7.26.0 became available late on 11 August. Mine installed trouble free but as usual the update reenabled the task GarminUpdaterTask that runs at 2 AM daily.

Changes include:
Added the ability to install maps to the computer from the Manage Maps page.

Fixed an issue with non-universal/worldwide map devices displaying the Manage Maps option on the dashboard.

Fixed an issue on the device dashboard indicating updates are available after successfully completing the updates.

Other minor bug fixes and improvements.

Check the domain

Open Express, go to Settings (the small gear at top right), then click on Advanced. Verify that the setting for Garmin Connect Authentication Domain is correct.

What domain (country) is shown? Your profile says you are in Canada. Can you use the drop down to make a change?

Then I wonder, what was the purpose of having it? If a map update comes out that is the most expeditors way of perfuming map updates.

Garmin Express 7.26.0 for PC.

It always worked well and now it doesn't with no reason that i know of.so get rid of it and live with maps that i have now.If they gave a reason that the average person could figure out it might be worthwhile.Si live with it as I won't be travelling to the USA anymore and things do not change that drastic that i cant get close to where i am going. Thank you for your input.

Garmin Express

Updated with no problems.

.NET 3.5 update filure

I was getting a .NET installation update failure upon installing Garmin Express v7.26.0...tried all manner of things to resolve (Garmin Express actually installed just fine). Finally, it dawned on me that I had Windows Update Blocker (WUB) blocking any Windows updates...those annoying things that come up at the most inopportune time & mostly when you want to do something quick on the PC. I don't run the PC 24/7.

I disabled WUB and the .NET install went as was intended.

Having issues downloading

Tried downloading it and a message comes up saying "Garmin Express cannot be installed on this computer. Try installing again".

That's weird, it's the same computer that I've installed Garmin Express on for the past 3 years or so and never had a problem.

Windows 11 Home. I've downloaded Express on this computer using this operating system many many times with no issue until now.

These things can be elusive. I suggest you go to https://forums.garmin.com/apps-software/mac-windows-software... and scroll down to mention of a Microsoft Tool and give that a go.

I really dislike things that enable "help me out by running things automagically". It's good to know when that happens so I can disable the stupid "help me" stuff.

Agreed. In the process, we then need more help figuring out how to disable the help that is supposedly helping us.

I'm a big opponent to all this AI crap that is out there, hogging up space on our devices (iPhones/iPads,etc)...with the exception of the AI used in the medical field.

I've never felt it was something that was missing in my life. I've lived 63 years of my life without it and I'm doing just fine.

Garmin Express 7.26.0

I tried to install Express 7.26.0 on my two WIN10 desktops, but both failed. Couldn't find the install package. I then tried to install it on my WIN11 laptop. It installed perfectly. The "fix" for this problem seems complicated. To me, the fact that two WIN10 computers have the same problem, tells me the update wasn't intended for WIN10.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Works fine for me

I started this thread and it works fine on my Win10 Pro laptop. There also has been a recent Windows 10 update. Have you done that?

What else, if anything, have you done to remedy the situation? What is the “fix” that you mention?

Express 7.26.0

John,

Yes, both computers are updated regularly. The "fix" I was referring to was deleting a Microsoft Visual C++ file, then reinstalling it. It's been a long time since I had any problems with express. The ones I did have seemed to resolve themselves. Since WIN10 has nearly reached it's end of life, I think some new hardware is in order.

Thanks

Hardware

Just think of all the perfectly good hardware running Windows 10 that is now (supposed to) go bye-bye because of Windows 11's "requirements".

First and foremost is you will not have a "bricked" Windows 10 PC on the day after Windows 10 end of life which is October 14, 2025. After this date, Microsoft will no longer provide free security updates, feature updates, or technical support for Windows 10. But if your Win10 functions now there isn't any reason why it won't be perfectly functional on October 15th. The one thing of concern would be anti-virus and malware protection. If you run something 3rd party (Norton McAfee, etc.) you should be covered. I suspect that even if you use the built-in MS Product Defender, it too will be supported.
