Deleting Custom POI

First time I have ever needed help with my Nuvi 660 in 5yrs so I hope some one can help, I accidently loaded the same POI camp sites 3 times on to the unit via POI loader, I have tried connecting the unit to my PC and tried to remove via POI loader as it say's remove POI in a tick box, but they are still there in custom POI. There probably is an easy answer "I hope" Thing is there is over 1000 campsites per file so X 3? Thanks for any suggestions I have been though this site looking for answers but cannot find the specific one I need. confused

@smosy

What we first need to do is get your nuvi connected to your computer so what we use Windows Explorer to look at what is in your [nuvi]:/Garmin/POI folder.

Hopefully you have already set your computer to show hidden files and extensions. If not, then see http://www.poi-factory.com/node/30393

You should also have a current backup before we start fooling with your unit. If you do not have on, then please see http://www.poi-factory.com/node/30394.

Tell us what you find in the POI folder.

Connect the gps to the computer. Go to the drive for the Garmin.Click on the Garmin Folder then click the Poi Folder. You should see your custom pois.It has a gpi extension and will be named the same as your main poi folder you have the custom pois in. Example My Pois.exe .Delete it and if you have a Mac computer make sure to empty you trash bin after that.

On the main screen you need to touch The "WRENCH" first, then System. At the very bottom in the middle pane you will see "ABOUT".

If you don't have the owners manual you can get it here, the topic is shown on page 42.

Nuvi 2460LMT 2 Units

@Smosy

We will get you there - bear with us.

As Vestenfjell has said, a SD card may be involved also. So, let us know is you have a SD card in your unit.

For the moment, do not worry about the GPS software version. We want you to look at the files you have on the GPS (and maybe the SD card) - as we are trying to find where the three sets of POIs are located.

Connect your nuvi to the computer. Navigate to whatever drive the computer assigns to the nuvi, and look at the files there in the folders we have mentioned above.

POI

Ok- Software version 4.9 No SD card. These are the files:- AUDIBLE, CARAVAN DOWNLOAD SITES,I created that folder thinking I put them in there, but all that contains is the POI loader if I click on that it will just load that program again,- GARMIN, contains lot of files if I open I get the dialog box "to open this file windows needs to know what file created it"- GPI, the same dialog box,- AUTORUN, just reveals a few words in notepad,-JPEG- MP3- then splash screen pics. This is almost getting exciting I appreciate your help on this.

It this is what you did and

If this is what you did and you still want to delete your custom pois .The file with the gpi extension is the custom pois you have loaded.All custom pois loaded with Poiloader are converted to one big gpi file

Connect the gps to the computer. Go to the drive for the Garmin.Click on the Garmin Folder then click the Poi Folder. You should see your custom pois.It has a gpi extension and will be named the same as your main poi folder you have the custom pois in. Example My Pois.gpi .Delete it and if you have a Mac computer make sure to empty you trash bin after that.
