Garmin talk

I had to recently upgrade to a 765t (because the 265wt didn't have the ability to show minutes remaining to destination).

I've noticed something HUGE between the two that is really frustrating me.

In 3D view, the 265wt gives you 5 levels of detail where the 765T only gives you 3.

I have seen older threads for some Garmin units that allow a way to eliminate the screen that comes up asking if you want to load the custom POI's on the Garmin?? If I wanted it on the Garmin, I would place it there! Is there any way to eliminate the screen that comes up every time I boot the Garmin? Any hacks?

Well, I'm running the Microsoft Windows 7 beta ... and I can report that my Garmin NUVI works just fine.

I ran Webupdater (just to see if it would work) ... my unit was already up to date ... so I selected a previously deleted language TTS file. I also messed around with Mapsource.

Everything ran just fine.

I discovered that searching built-in POIs for the Fuel category also returns Convenience Stores mixed into the results.

For the stores returned in the Fuel search, Mapsource shows their category as "Shopping", and sub-category as "Convenience". Perhaps Garmin thinks food from 7-Eleven stores will also give you gas?

I understand that I need to convert the mp3 file to wav for it to be put on my 330C. Can anyone advise me what software I need to get and if there is any additional programs I will need to.

Hello all-

Is it possible to use multiple maps in 1 SD card?
My Garmin preinstalled with N. America 2009 map and I recently purchased Europe map 2009 Map update (installed in SD card) and in additon, I have Malaysia-Singapore Garmin map.
Now both Europe map and Singapore map want to reside in X:\Garmin with filename: gmapsupp.img

I have tried renaming either of the files but it's no use.

I thought I read somewhere, but I cannot find where, that Garmin had new software that would allow you to tie a photograph to a POI file.

I am experimenting with creating my first POI file and would love to be able to save a photo with some of my POIs.

Looked in FAQ but not real hard....is there a limit to the number of POI I can have? Talking about on the 750. Would assume if you put them on the card your limit is based on the size of your card. Do I run a risk of slowing the unit down if I cross a certain number of POI?

I'm not sure if it is an illusion or if the 3D-map display on my Nuvi 200w sometimes it zoom in or zoom out automatically depends on where you are while driving.

I've looked on Garmin 's web site a couple of times and cant find the software Road Trip I keep reading about for my Mac.

I finally paired up my nuvi660 with treo 650. I can receive phone call through nuvi660 but I can't dial out any calls. When I hit the dial button on nuvi660 it does show red icon of phone calling but it doesn't dial. And also i hear nothing through nuvi660. and I don't see my treo 650 light up.
What is wrong?

connect your unit to webupdater and see. All voices have been upgraded from 1.20->1.40

Today, I tried to update the speed camera and redlight camera POI's. I downloaded the files correctly to my Garmin POI file but when I try to download the files using the POI Loader I get a message "There was a problem coping data to the data card. The device is not ready." This has never happen before and I have updated the files many times in the past. I have a Garmin 780.

I followed the above instructions and loaded four POI files but they did not show up on my Nuvi 265W. What should I try next?

I recently purchased a Garmin 350 refurb. When I registered it, ver 6.0 software was downloaded. Now when I go into diagnostic screens I see that the number of recharge cycles = 1.

My question is: does a hard reset or a software upgrade reset this counter to 0, or did I maybe get an unused unit (or battery)?

I downloaded a Speed and Camera alert file for Canada and found some areas where speed traps exist that aren't included. I can update the file for myself (I think ), but if I wanted to share that info, how does one do that?

After adding the line(s) and saving, than what?
