I've been trying to refine a long trip, so that I can better predict where I'll be stopping for the night. We're having a family gathering and my techie son & son-in-law got into a discussion of how Copilot was helping them do things in their respective jobs and it gave me an idea.

Any old timers still remember this?

I really miss a Microsoft Streets & Trips Trip Planning feature. You could schedule a stop every 2 hours or so for a set period of time. It wasn't perfect, since the stops could be away from a rest area or gas station. It gave a decent approximation of where you might end up by the end of the day.

I have added several maps on my Garmin Zumo XT. How can I rearrange how they are displayed?

My first pages is three map choices.

The second and third page offers four map choices.

I would like all four of my BBBike maps on the same page.

I would like another page of City Navigator Maps.

Another page can be the remainders.

I have never paid much attention to the Garmin GPS Simulator Mode until today. I used my Nuvi 3597 and my Driveluxe 51, with as many settings as possible configured the same, but using different maps. It is interesting to see how they compare to one another even on the same route.

I have had an old Garmin Nuvi 500 for a number of years. It doesn't get much use and can I no longer update City Navigator NT. (Maybe there is a workaround.)

Anyway, I added Open Map Chest Midwest by downloading it onto my computer and using Garmin BaseCamp to install it on the Nuvi 500. It works great.

Just a reminder for anybody that hasn't used these recently (or ever), Garmin MapSource does still work. In fact, I used it today to switch from City Navigator North America (CN NA) to OpenMapChest (OMS) US Midwest. MapSource makes it very easy to toggle between two maps and see what the differences are between them. I like having the POIs/business names display on the map.

What would cause the listed or registered Devices get wiped off from the GE Home screen? No apparent harm done. Just curious about this phenomenon.

Now that my Garmin Nuvi 3597 can no longer be updated to City Navigator 2027.10, I am giving some thought to their 30% offer on a replacement. The biggest Display Size in the models offered is 8", which is the Garmin DriveSmart 86. The 30% offer brings it down to $244.99. My wife and I own an RV. We currently use a Garmin DriveSmart 65 with Amazon Alexa in there.

Where do you store the sound files on the DriveSmart 76 For custom POI files? Do I have to create a new directory on the unit or the removable memory chip installed on the unit?!

I was shopping at Eden Prairie Center today in Minnesota. There is a Scheels store in there and I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had some Garmin devices on display and powered up. (I rarely see that at other stores I frequent these days.) One of them was the Garmin GPSMAP 67 it was released almost 3 years ago.

Garmin has announced the new Garmin Zumo XT3. It is available in 4.7 and 6 inch screen sizes. These are Motorcycle Navigators. It has a USB-C power connector.

I have been looking at possibly buying a Garmin bicycle GPS. The Garmin Edge 1050 checks a lot of the boxes for me. Unlike automotive Garmins, it does not have City Navigator Maps preinstalled on it.

While I don't necessarily need a Garmin Edge 1050, this one interests me because it has a touchscreen and a 3.5 inch display.

The part about HSA/FSA eligible for qualified customers caught my eye. I am just curious if anybody here has purchased a bike computer and been reimbursed with HSA/FSA funds? I have an HSA and I have only been drawing funds from it since 10-2025.
