Sygic GPS is presently available for the US for approximately US$24 (Euros 19.99) and as of version 11.2 (now out for some time) it will have the capability of using POIs (in Garmin CSV format) after conversion with a free tool.

This will have a major (positive) in the future of the Android platform but also on the GPS front being given Google involvement with mapping and now they will have some real hardware platform to go with it.

need help have loaded them via poi loader but can not find them to access them?

In order to make things easier to navigate,I'm going to start a new topic each month like Jon does for, keeping your windmill alive and the joke threads. Free links are short lived anyway and will make Navigation short and sweet.

I don't know much about the light version, I have the pro. I also use it in the background not using it's maps. I use Google Navigator and get all the POI-Factory custom POI alerts from the Radardroid app.

Not sure how good or bad the apps is. I am not a golfer or Android phone owner. I just thought someone might be interested.

I hope this brings the best of Garmin to Navigon's smart phone apps. Navigon is, in my opinion, the best iOS app out there - and if this brings about the ability to use custom POIs on smartphones with the same easy you can on a Garmin device, I'll be pleased.

Google has just released update 5.7 to Google Maps. One of the new features is the ability to download specific map tiles to your phone so you can navigate even if you lose cell coverage.

I really don't understand the jargon on if / how S-GPS is superior to aGPS.

Looks like TomTom is really hurting from lack of sales due to consumer trending towards smartphones. Lowers guidance 2nd quarter in a row.

Even TomTom units at $40 aren't drawing much of an interest these days on deal sites.

July 20 update - There are many bugs in this new version. I would strongly advise against purchasing this version of CoPilot. It has been 3 weeks since the app was released and ALK has not issued any official announcements about updates, even though there are tons of complaints on their message boards.

As a long time PND user, I confess, on my last business trip I left it behind and just used my smartphone. Knowing that I would be in a city with good cellphone coverage helped me make that decision, but I still felt incomplete without one of my PNDs.

So how many of y'all long time PND users have bit the bullet and gone on a trip without your trusty PND?

A 'look under the hood' at copyright disclaimers seems to indicate... will be interesting to see this when iOS comes out in the fall.
