AT&T, Verizon attack FCC's data roaming rules

Data roaming can go quite a ways towards making navigation apps on smartphones more robust.

"The FCC's decision to adopt automatic data roaming rules triggered predictable reactions from the industry players that had been arrayed for and against the rules:"

Garmin Drive Smart 55 - Samsung Note 10 Smartphone with Google Maps & HERE Apps

Why the smartphone is the new killer GPS

I recently took a cruise, and drove to the cruise port.

While en route, I encountered construction blockages. Using Google Maps, I quickly routed around the traffic / blockages in real time, all free.

Nav app for Windows Phone 7?

Call me eccentric, but I bought a Samsung Focus (at&t) because I liked the user experience. Android and iPhone icons are too small and cluttered for my old eyes and I joined the "I hate Steve Jobs" club along time ago.

I don't know where I'm going or remember where I've been...without Garmin.

Playbook!?

I'm a blackberry nerd - love my Garmins, but eager to see this guy. Smaller than the iPad (which I think is good), and should easily run most Android Apps (easily run via the Java package) - which I'm hoping means all the google maps goodies. Should make an attractive package - obviously the GPSr will likely be the blackberry though it does have blutooth coverage.

TeleNav GPS for iPhone 4, iPad 2: Free maps, inexpensive turn-by-turn service

Available immediately in the App Store, TeleNav GPS (free) gives starts off providing 30 free days of personal navigation service, including spoken turn-by-turn directions, 3D moving maps, auto-rerouting, and enhanced search of over 22 million points of interest.

Any thoughts on the AT&T-Mobile deal?

It will be certainly interesting to see how this shakes out when all the federal hurdles get jumped... and politicians "contributed to" in order to garner support...

Google has used a "kill switch" to clean up phones hit by rogue Android applications.

I'm not sure what's scarier, the malware or Google having access to the phone anytime they want...

Any pictures or ideas woud be great.
