Smartphone Offline Navigation Software

I know someone who may be interested in getting maps for offline navigation on an Android. I realize that this question is pretty subjective, but is there a clear winner among Co-Pilot vs. Navigon vs. Sygic vs. Google Offline maps?

Dumb Criminal

Disney cruise passenger Katy McCaffrey had her iPhone stolen by an employee while she was on a Disney Wonder Cruise. The employee's name was apparently Nelson. How does she know? Because she can read his name tag in the photos he continued to snap using her iPhone,

Nokia Lumia 900 Windows Phone 7

I received my Nokia Lumia 900 Wondows Phone 7 earlier this week, replacing my Samsung Focus. I was pleasantly surprised to find the free "Nokia Drive" GPS app. The app installed has no maps. You then select the country you want to download, then narrow down from there. When selecting USA, the next choice is to download the entire USA (about 1.8 GB) or individual states.

TomTom App on iPhone Update

I almost rolled through a red light because of the most recent update to the TomTom App on the iPhone. It now includes a Red Light database for the US. As I approached the first intersection, it ever so politely alerted me. I kept going (it was a green light) and upon coming up to another intersection, it alerted me again.

Who Has Given Up Their Camera For Their Smartphone?

Personal Disclaimer: for me, the quality of smartphone cameras is a LONG way from what I want to trade even my simple point-and-shoot for my SG2's camera feature. There used to be a phrase that went "It's all about the glass" referring to the lens. The better the lens, the better the picture...but I digress.

SmartPhone Bloatware

Does anyone know of a relatively safe way to remove excessive apps from an android smartphone? When Verizon is contacted their response is that if the apps are "preinstalled" they cannot be removed, without causing problems.
Can't see why keep blockbuster eg. if I don't want it taking up space and memory. So much for "choice".

Friction/Bean Bag Mount for Smartphone?

Looking at getting an HTC Rezound on Verizon. What are people using for good quality, secure car mounts? In particular, any suggestions for good dashboard friction/bean bag mounts?

I'm concerned that smartphones come in all shapes and sizes, and that aftermarket mounts may have poor fitting cradles/holders. Any help would be appreciated.

Who Has Given Up Their Watch and Just Used Their Smartphone?

OK, admittedly, I did not give up my watch voluntarily...it is "under repair." In the meantime, I am stuck with just my smartphone to keep me informed of the time. How-some-ever, being in this predicament has made me aware that there are indeed several people who do not wear a watch and pull out their smartphone (or cellphone) when they want to check the time.

iPhone Garmin Apps

I'm sure this has been asked and answered, so forgive my question, as I couldn't locate the answer. But if I purchase the $59.99 Garmin StreetPilot app from the iTunes app store, does anyone know whether I can only obtain full functionality on one phone or both my phones?

Apple Is On Top

It was inevitable, a matter of when, not if.

It is quite remarkable that any company can enter a well entrenched market and take over, toppling companies like Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, LG, RIM, HTC, etc.
