New MotionX user
Long time Garmin Nuvi user, but Garmin 760 died last weekend, and Garmin no longer repairs them. I downloaded MotionX since I have an iPhone5 and a robust data plan. If there are any MotionX users here, any tips, tricks, or traps? I know the app is $0.99 but voice service for a year costs an additional $9.99 . That seems reasonable, vice Garmin lifetime map cost, etc.

Garmin Just Talked Me Out Of Navigon For My Andoid Devices!
So, I made the switch this afternoon from my well used T-Mobile Garminfone to the Google Nexus 4. Coincidentally, I called Garmin to see if I can restore the problem I have had for the past week receiving text messages. I happened to mention that I would like to see StreetPilot OnBoard For Android like the app for Apple.

Smartphone GPS Battery Life
I "bit the bullet last night and order a Google Nexus 4. Anyway, I noticed that it lists its battery capacity as 2100 mAh. That got me to wondering about my Garminfone and it lists the battery as 1150 mAh. So, now what I am wondering is if I can expect roughly twice the GPS navigation operating time with the Nexus 4 vs. the Garminfone or are they way too many variables to assume that?

Pedestrian Navigation
My wife, sons, and I are in Washington DC on Spring Break vacation this week. We flew in Sunday and have been taking the Metro and walking to the various attractions. Anyway, although I have been getting by with my Garminfone and Nexus 7 with Co-Pilot, my Garminfone battery doesn't last long enough. I had some additional batteries, but I am down to one right now.

Has anyone ever tried these travel apps?
Has anyone ever tried these travel apps:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=AllStays
https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=AppAvenger
It looks like a nice idea (in a way), but especially in the case of the AllStays apps, it looks to me like a case of "there's TOO MANY apps for that" and no way to buy them all for one (reduced) price.

Jailbreaking is again illegal
“The Copyright Office of the Library of Congress recently reversed its longstanding position and stated it is a violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act for consumers to unlock new mobile phones, even those outside of contract periods, without their wireless providers’ permission, and that consumers are subject to criminal penalties if they do."
