FWIW, the TomTom Android app also has maps for Mexico. I have not used them myself in Mexico, so I cannot comment from personal knowledge on how well done they may be.
However, I can say that TomTom's "US_CAN_Mexico" map has been on my phone for some time, and I see no difference between the US portion of the Android map and the US portion of the same map on my TomTom GO LIVE 1535. When I run the phone with the Android app side-by-side with my GO LIVE 1535, the navigation appears to be identical.
