Does anyone know how to get the POI alerts on CoPilot GPS nav app for Android to speak the category of the POI set for audio alert? Right now it just says "Point of Interest" instead of for example, "Rest Area".

I don't have a wristwatch synched with my smartphone, but I know they exist. Is anybody here running a GPS app on their smartphone and seeing a map on their watch display? Part of me is interested in getting a wristwatch connected to my smartphone so that I can read text messages, etc., but then I started thinking about the GPS function.

I am posting this here because although this isn't a cell phone forum, since this uses a smartphone and has the ability to send GPS coordinates, this might be of some interest to some members here.

Today, I overslept for work. I'm a full-blown middle-aged person.

Why? Because the speaker on my Razr Maxx stopped working.

I have 5 alarms set, which go off between 4:25 AM EST and 5:30 AM. A fool proof system, until the speaker stops working.

Even worse, I am on-call. I could have missed a call because the ringer uses the speaker.

If you have NO GPS signal whatsoever. Say you are in an underground parking facility or deep in a mall, etc., and want to determine where you are, what apps are best suited for this? In fact, if you turned off the GPS, would some apps do an okay job of navigating or would it be pretty crude?

What do you folks think about the new phone plans? i.e. say family of 4 smartphones, 10gb shared, $160, but you can't upgrade?

I was getting ready to purchase a new stereo for my truck but after reading about Android Auto at last week's Google I/O conference I'm going to hold off for a few months. It looks like Google is finally coming out with a product which will allow us to fully integrate our phones into car stereos.

The Garmin Viago app was released recently, but we have had other GPS apps for smartphones and tablets available for quite some time now. One of the things that I read from time to time is people stating that it won't replace their existing automobile GPS navigator. The way I look at this issue is that it isn't an either/or issue. Of course it won't replace a dedicated automobile GPS!

As posted above, what smartphones and tablets do you think are good for running GPS applications? With Garmin Viago now available, I have a renewed interest in this topic. I have used a number of different smartphones with Garmin software in the past. My first one was a Pharos GPS Phone 600 with Garmin Mobile XT. It was replaced with a Garmin Nuvifone G60. Next was the Garminfone A50.

Have been using the new Chromecast for about a month now. Really happy with it so far. Adds a lot to a regular TV.

I'm having problems adjusting the volume of the voice. While listening to music at the same time, the Google Maps navigation instructions boom extremely loud. No matter what I do I can not lower the volume to a level that doesn't nearly mute my music.

There is a new 680news traffic app that will announce traffic along your route and will announce traffic along your route. the app is called 680news traffic and free from appstore or android google store.

Any comments and do you like it or is there a better app that offers traffic without a paid subscription.

I just updated both my ipad2 and 5S phone to the newest 7.1? Via my home wifi. The 5s went thru fine but the pad bombed. After an hour or so with apple support to restore the pad, I find out from their own techs that they recommend using I tunes to update ALL apple devices rather than home or business wifi directly. Not that you will always have problems with direct wifi but it COULD happen.
