How to install icons in Magellan Maestro 4040?

Hi everyone!

Just started this site and I love it. I got a couple of icons and I would like to know how I could download them to my Megellan 4040? And how could I view the current icons ( where is the file at? ). Also, there has to be a way where I can load sound files as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Asked and answered several times over the past year.
The sad news is: You can't do either......or at least, the hacking that would be required isn't worth it for "cosmetic" things like icons and voices.

Sorry.

Thanks!

Thanks! There has to be a way where you can open the DLL files and take a look at them. One has to have the sound bits or icons. Then all you would have to do is add, I would think.....any ideas?

PS: I am a newbie here and If I asked the same question as others here. I read some of the blogs here and really did not see the answer elsewhere, sorry.

OK, well I guess you don't have to accept my answer.

If you are intent on hacking your GPS, have a look here:

There you will not only find that what you want to do is not as easy as you might imagine, you should also see stories from people who have killed their GPS by hacking around with the software.

The POI Factory doesn't cater to things like that.

Oh, I did accept your answer :o)

Oh Thanks for the info all around. I did accept the answer. But just in case ....LOL. Among millions, there could be a chance in this crazy computer world of ours. I bought mine at Tiger direct for a steal ($99)so I could not pass it up.
