POI projects

I sent Mahoney this info, this is from the CEO of Garden Ridge.

After testing a couple of stores in Michigan and three in St. Louis, Garden Ridge is officially changing its name to At Home. It will spend $20 million this year to convert all of its 71 stores in time for the holiday shopping season, including six in Dallas-Fort Worth.

Does anyone know why evertime I use extra POI editor I get a "Script" error code. It has the same "line 14" and character "314" error message everytime.

It seems to be caused when it inserts the map into the lower left box.

I have to hit "Yes" 3 times before the error message is eliminated.

I've created a POI listing of mechanics who specialize working on VW TDI cars. The list was created from http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=130044. I'll get this POI loaded soon and will post a link in this thread. Stay tuned.

Someone had posted a POI file way back in 2007 and since then the POI file has been dormant. Locations had been closed, new ones opened and some locations were in the wrong place etc.

I updated and corrected this and copletely redid the POI file. I also sent the original POI creator a PM quite some time ago asking whether he wanted me to take it over and never got a reply.

Using POI loader, I loaded a mypoi.csv file and a mypoi.gpx file to my Nuvi 1350. Neither of these files alert me to rlc or speed camera. How do I delete these files from the Nuvi.

The title just about says it all.
I travel with a horse trailer.

You can't bring them into a Holiday Inn room and HIDE them, they're just TOO BIG.
Even the motels that say "pet friendly" don't mean pets THIS big.

There are a couple of directories on the web, horsetrip.com and there was a section of bbonline that could be searched, I think with /~horses.htm something like that.

I've been thinking about(and marking/saving points) creating a POI file for improvised parking for trucks, RVs, or any large/long vehicle or combination.
I welcome anyone else who wants to contribute or otherwise help with this project.

I wish there was a way of alphabetizing the lists. Like restaurants in alphabetical order or fuel stations in alphabetical order. I would like to be able to just look for the ones we eat at .....

I was curious as to whether anyone knows if Mile Markers are available anywhere either as a POI or actually on any mapping software (google maps, map quest, etc).

These two fuel stations have come to Florida with vengeance. They are everywhere but the poi's application has not been updated.

When can we all expect the Thermoking files to be updated?

I've been lurking for about ~ 5 weeks now, Got my Garmin RV 760 at 99.9% - got POI's working like I think they should .... Red Light and Speed camera's as well.

Even have Flying J - Shell alert with .wav file at 1500 meters *** ALERT ALERT - Flying J Ahead !!! *** YAYAYA (works very well)....

I tried to download the Factory tours POI in both the GPX and CSV format and failed.

Downloading the CSV file I get this message:
Sorry, CSV format is not available for this file.

While attempting to convert the GPX to XLS (using POI Conversion Software)I got this message:
Correct Format is: Maximum length is 1024 characters

How do I report a corrupt POI file?

Does anyone know of a good, quick tool (other than EPE) that can find duplicates within a stated range?

I've been looking at lots of POI files from this site and elsewhere and the names, descriptions and addresses are loaded with superfluous wording, unnecessary punctuation, spacing, characters, etc. Please don't misunderstand me, I appreciate those who take the time to create POIs but I just don't understand why so many characters are used?

why do all the known speed traps have to be by area download that's a lot to keep up with. how about one file to download all like the red lite camera file or speed camera file.

Is there an easy way to convert interstate/highway mile markers to gps coordinates? I am thinking not but decided to ask this silly question anyway. Maybe someone has figured out a way to create these waypoints. Thanks. eKeith
