How to Delete Custom Poi Files

Using POI loader, I loaded a mypoi.csv file and a mypoi.gpx file to my Nuvi 1350. Neither of these files alert me to rlc or speed camera. How do I delete these files from the Nuvi.

There

There will be a file in the POI folder on the Nuvi which if you used the POIloader defaults will be called POI.GPI. Deleting that file will delete the mypoi items AND any other custom POI file on your GPS.

I will follow this up with some suggestions for you as a newcomer to this site.

But, first your question - there should be a file in the POI folder that you should find when you attach the 1350 to your computer. It should be named mypoi.gpi. It can be safely deleted.

I must say that I am a little confused because I do not know if you did two runs of POI Loader with each of the files or one run.

If you did one run, I am not sure what would happen with two identically named files (one .csv and one .gpx).

You seem to be indicating these are camera files. If so, where are they from?

Welcome Suggestions

Welcome to the site.

We usually recommend the following.

There is a "Learn" button in the upper right of this page next to "red light cameras" that takes you to a Getting Started page. It is worthwhile visiting this page.

To make navigation easy, most browsers provide the following option. When you want to follow a link - but still keep your current page open - you can hold down the "Ctrl" key as you left-click on a link. That action will open a new "Tab" in your browser up on the "Tab" bar. When you then left-click on that new "Tab", you will follow the link - leaving the "Tab" you are now reading open and available to click on and return here.

So, using the "Learn" link, you might try the "Ctrl" - left-click sequence and then return here. You can return by either "X-ing" out of the "Getting Started" page (using the "X" on the "Tab" itself) or just left-clicking on the "Tab" for the page you are on right now.

Note that the Learn Button will give you access to two valuable reference pages -
the "Index" to all of the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) and the Glossary of Terms and Links.

Since you are new here, I encourage you to go through a couple of the Tutorials.

The first link makes sure the settings on your computer are such that you can do more advanced POI loading.

The next link helps you make a backup of your GPS by attaching it to your computer. (NEVER do anything to your GPS until you have a backup). It also assures that you put your (newer) unit into a state where you can see all of the folders there.

delete and install custom pois.

You may want to review this link for how to install custom pois http://www.poi-factory.com/node/25721 .You can run poi loader again and select remove all pois to get a clean start . It should be noted that once you put all the custom pois in the My Pois folder then run poi loader you select the My Pois folder under browse. Everything in that folder loads at one time and is converted to one big gpi file on your GPS. Once loaded successful
to will find them under custom pois or extras on the GPS.

I did a test and, if mypoi.csv and mypoi.gpx are together in one folder, then POI Loader treats them as two separate files and loads both.

Now the question is what happens when there is an additional file whose name is mypoi.wav.

You should receive a prompt

You should receive a prompt when you use poi loader
