POI projects

My family and I went on a bicycle ride yesterday and since I was the only one currently without a bicucle of my own, I decided to try the Nice Ride MN https://www.niceridemn.org/ Of course, being a GPS enthusiast, I wondered if they had an app for that.

May I suggest that all files that pertain to a particular state be named so that the state is the first word?

It would make is simpler to find them.

I am looking for a listing for Cenex Gas Stations

Massachusetts has list of all the state maintained boat launches at: http://www.mass.gov/eea/agencies/dfg/fba/access-sites.html. It looks like it might be possible to extract the data from there to create a poi export. I don't have the chops to do this but I wonder if anyone else might be able to look at it and provide some guidance.
Would be a good addition to the boat launch project.

Just want to let everyone know that the NYPD file has been updated. The NEWEST NYPD precinct (121Pct) has now been added to the file. No phone info at this time!

found this mega file with a lot of poi's

I previously owned a Nuvi 215 and had no difficulties with a large list of POIs. Now with the "New" 2495 all I have is cameras. What gives. I must say that the South African version of software far exceeds that you supply.

One minute I am told to download v 2013.4 and then with Express my maps are up to date.What gives?

To create TourGuides for a Garmin, you need a MP3 or WAV file for each POI entry.

If I could create, say, an Excel file with the Names of the desired WAV files, and the text for the WAV files as two columns (name, text), then run it through a Text to Speech program that would create the speech and name the resulting files the Name.wav for me, that would be a big help.

As I was out in PA recently, I hooked up with my sister, her son and his fiancee. We decided to do something a little different and headed to Herr's potato chips factory for a tour. We really enjoyed it, and the next day they said they'd like to visit Sturgis Pretzels. Personally, as a kid, I remember tours of Hershey candies and the Philadelphia Bulletin newspaper.

I don't know who maintains the Caribou Coffee POI, but there's big news about the Illinois locations. Caribou is closing most of their Illinois stores, and will convert the rest to Peet's Coffee and Tea. All of the stores will be converted by 2015. Some locations in Wisconsin will also be affected.

I would like to find/ get assistance with creating a POI File for Food Network's Restaurant Impossible locations. Any ideas or advice?

On 2013-03-27 I took over the maintenance duties for the Starbucks, US & Canada POI file.

2015 Scrub of the Marriott POI list completed

It now has 3451 properties - only USA.

Added 228 properties, and deleted 78 that were no longer affiliated with Marriott.

Thanks all for the patience - maintaining this is kind of like painting the Golden Gate Bridge - when you get to one end, you look back and see you need to start over.

I downloaded RAC to my MacBook Pro, then to my nuvi 260w. I added a .bmp and a .wav file. On a recent trip to Indiana, the rest areas were not displayed. I went back to the file and renamed the .bmp and wav to match the .csv file exactly. I expect all will be well next time out, but...

Has any one else had issuse using extra poi editor? All of a sudden im getting a "run time error 13" Type mismatch, keeps shutting down the program. Using windows 7.

Any help would be appreciated

Is there a program or technique that I can use to download several POI files in a batch process?

I found POISync but it seems to have vanished.

Did something change at the server for the web site that made POISync obsolete or did it just expire?

Actually, if I knew the file storage/naming structure, I could probably build such a process.

Any comments/help appreciated.

Does anyone have a POI with ALL of the beaches in Florida? I have looked through the current POI’s but cannot find a good one. I did try to combine them but it was just too much for me to handle. There were many wrong locations and duplicate entries. The “Florida Beaches” POI file does not have all of the beaches. If anyone could help me out, I would appreciate it. I do have a Tom Tom.
