POI projects

Is there any interest in a POI file of Rock Shops across the US? I was thinking of talking to the people who run http://www.awesomerockshops.com about using their list as a basis.

I have a Garmin nuvi 2597.

Is it possible to create "directional alerts" in custom POI files? For example, typical red light camera locations (at least in my area) only have one or two cameras aimed at traffic in those two respective directions yet a gps user will get proximity alerts from all directions.

Hi. As I mentioned in my introduction thread, I'm currently working on a POI file for Planet Fitness gyms all across the USA. I work out here, and have a black card membership which allows me to go to any location, and I know how it feels when you can't just have a location right there on your GPS. While I was on vacation in Florida, I wanted to work out at PF.

Is there a POI project that gives alerts for streets that are in school zones?

is there a POI for all the bowling alley's in North America?

How does one add an image to their POI category, like in "Rest Areas".

But when I first sent the file in a mod did the mojo on it to make it GPS compatible. We now have more stores open so I want to upload a new file. My question is how do I get into a "gps" format from excel? I'd like to know as we build about 35 new stores per year. Any help would be appreciated. BTW, I use a Mac in case that matters.

These two POI files are up for adoption. I am not driving a charter bus anymore and will not be updating them. If someone would like to take them on I will be glad and will help any way I can. Thanks.

Last year I found a POI file or overlay file that list the majority of Montan's lakes, streams, rivers, etc and list the types of fish in that body of water when you zoomed in over it. Not sure if it was on this site or another but need help finding it again. If anyone has come across it place contact me. One i had as for Montana only.

I searched Holiday Inn Exp. POI in CVS format for my Garmin Nuvi 2595, but the only thing POI Factory has is GPX format, I do not know how to convert, please anyone out there can help me?

There's a new Gander Mtn. store opening in Charlottesville, VA, on Oct.15th. I want to add that store to my Gander POI file but I'm not sure of the coordinates. When preparing a new POI, I use Google Earth to locate a business's drive or other entrance from the street as its location, but unfortunately, GE still shows an empty field where the new GM is.

NYC announced this week that they are going to deploy approximately 20 speed cameras. Their intention is to put them into school zones.

(Personal Opinion) People shouldn't speed in school zones nor should they pass stopped school buses with the red lights flashing.

Does anyone know if there is a way to transfer the symbols that I have in my gpx files to a kml file that I create through POI-Editor. What I am trying to do is keep these symbols in my kml file so they will show up in an IPAD app - Avenza which allows the import of kml files and their symbols.

Has anyone suffered from the Subway POI file? If I load this on to my NUVI 2595, any existing POI information is gone. I normally have Dunkin Donuts and Rest-stops; adding the Subway file deletes all POI info. If I load the Subway by itself - after removing all other POI files - it does not work.

3 New red light cameras will go into operation beginning 9/3/13. There will be a 30 day grace period during which warnings will be issued. Beginning 10/3/13 violators will be assessed a $158 fine for a violation.

On a recent trip, when I found myself behind motorhomes and other slow vehicles on 2-lane mountain roads, it occurred to me that we should have a POI file that shows the location of Passing Lanes.

Any interest in creating one?

I have a Nuvi 2597, Nuvi 2460, and a Zumo 550. I have noticed that when I upload a POI file to the Nuvi 2597 that it creates two icons in the same place, one just slightly below the other. This is not a problem with the other units that I have. I have removed the icons and files and have uploaded them numerous times and still the same results. Contact with Garmin was no help.
