How to add a GPX file

Someone had posted a POI file way back in 2007 and since then the POI file has been dormant. Locations had been closed, new ones opened and some locations were in the wrong place etc.

I updated and corrected this and copletely redid the POI file. I also sent the original POI creator a PM quite some time ago asking whether he wanted me to take it over and never got a reply.

Now I posted my version of the file adding (2014) to the POI file name to distinguish it from the 2007 POI. I posted this with a CSV file to POI factory.

What I would also like to do is to add the file in the GPX format which I have as well as a sound file and icon file.

How do I add the GPX, icon and sound files?

Don't seem to find the answer anywhere.

If it's to the factory, you follow the link under your name to "upload and share a CSV or GPX file."

Sound and icon files are added by mailing them to Angela.

First, thanks for taking the initiative to do what you are doing. More of us need to take such initiative.

Don't slap your forehead too hard but look at the section in the right pane beneath your name and directly above the "Active Forum Topics". You will find

upload and share a CSV or GPX file

You can upload either. I would go ahead and upload the .gpx file and then send JM a message as to what you have done.

For the other, look at
How Can I Send A Photo, BMP Icon Or MP3 File To POI Factory?

and I will ask Globe Turtle to add .wav to this above title.

Put my thinking cap on

I may have the solution to having the POI as one with the CSV file.

Then create another POI with the same name and upload the GPX file to it.

Am I right about that?

Corrrect

you can load on csv & then load one in gpx there numerous files like that. What file did you take over? You can ask Jonathan to take over that file by using the contact Page, you will find it upper right hand side of the web page. He's pretty good what ones aren't active.

Took over

bobinot

I like a chain of steakhouses called "The Keg".
Found it on POI factory, but when I looked at it in Mapsource found many errors, such as wrong locations, closed locations as well as missing new locations. One real bad one was shown somehere out in the Pacific ocean and not in Hawaii. LOL!

The 2007 file had 93 locations including now five closed locations and now there are 112 locations open.

Since you have many POI's under your wing, you know it can take some time and I spent many hours on this project.

Already thinking of a new one not on POI factory yet.

Thanks for the example you are setting.

John

The files are up on the site

She made Melaqueman the maintainer which means the old file is gone.

Great job for taking over an orphan file.
