Ticket cameras

I am a new user to this group as well as a new Garmin owner. I downloaded the red light camera csv file, loaded it onto my Garmin C530 through the POI loader then the actual unit displayed a notice asking me if I wanted to store the POI's on the actual unit(I think) which I said yes.

I'm new to this forum, but am curious if anyone has any experience with the available camera devices, i.e. License tag sprays or tag covers available out there. If so any recommendations. I know RadarRoy (http://www.radarbusters.com/?source=rnet) has a few on his site for sale and others exist. Any field reports?

I downloaded the red light camera notification file to a SD expansion card using the POI loader. I downloaded it using the SD card slot on my computer then put it into my Garman C330 GPS device. Has anyone with a C330 used this data. I read a posting that to access it via the GPS that you go to Where to?>>Extras.

Thanks to whomever collected/created the cam files for Atlanta. I went through there and had my unit alert twice, about scared the snot out of me both times as I wasn't ready for the noise my Mio made alerting me.

Anyway, I hit two on the north side of Atlanta so know that it works. Thanks for the good job!

I need some advice before I start reporting about these red light cameras. Can someone describe the various cameras, I have seen at several intersections in CA where there seems to be a movie camera at section of the intersection which I assume they are for red light purposes.

What about Left On Red on to a one way, is that legal in California? Texas?

I know several people who claimed they turned right on red and the redlight cameras ticketed them. The turning right on red is legal in Ohio. I haven't had it happen to me personally but since other people claimed it happened to them I just don't turn right on red at camera intersections. Was wondering if anybody else had any experiences like this or have ever heard of it.

I have kept the locations in the database in case they ever get turned on again but I have added a note that sais inactive to each location for that city.

Please tell me! I downloaded the red-light cameras POI file to my C340 Garmin. I thought it would give me an alert when I was approaching (alert) a camera while driving but it doesn’t!!! It only let’s you select the light to drive to. Now WHY would I want to do THAT. I want to be alerted it’s in my path, not visit it and see if I like the camera or not.

Today through the mail, I received this notice from the City of North Richland Hills with my water bill:

The City Council approved an agreement with Redflex Traffic Systems for the installation, operation and maintenance of Red Light Automated Traffic Signal Enforcement System.

This system will include placement of cameras...in our community. {It goes on to say}...a $75.00 ticket will be mailed to the owner of the vehicle. The first 4 cameras are expected to be operationalby April 2007. Additional cameras will be added in the future.

My Mio uses a couple of different settings that I don't see in the csv files for the red light cameras. Was curious if any of that coding was supposed to be related to this? The Mio has settings for the direction of the cameras and for the speed at the intersection. Would that csv file hold this information? I don't see anything I'd recognize as speed or direction.

I have been having people give me camera locations for Fresno CA. When I researched this city I found that the cameras had been shut off.

Is there anyone in the Fresno area that can verify if their cameras are active or not? I would like to have them in the database if they are but I have not added them yet.

I have noticed several intersections in Jacksonville, Arkansas where cameras have been mounted. I will get the actual intersections and coordinates and post later.

Noticed every stop light intersection in Keller along 1709 (Keller Parkway) has cameras installed in all four directions. Intersecting roads as follows, (Edit: street names were added to the database by Miss Poi) I had never noticed them before.

Local area newscasts report that the "grace" period for Dallas cameras ends today (14 Jan). Tickets will be issued starting tomorrow, Monday, 15 Jan. Initial ticket will be $75.00. Subsequent infractions will be $150.00 each.

It was reported that there are currently 10 active cameras in the Dallas city limits. 50 additional cameras will be operational by the end of April.

I have had a few comments about some of the newer locations that I have added to the database.

When I started to find proposed locations that had not actually been installed yet, Jon and I sat down and discussed it and decided that it is better for people to know about these locations ahead of time. Then if it turns out that they do not get installed, we can remove them from the database.

I think that if there were cameras going up in the future in my area I would want to know about it way before hand so I knew where they were.

i have found a red light camera that is not listed on the gps and it's location is in Cleveland, Ohio.
