What about Left On Red on to a one way, is that legal in California? Texas?

If I remember my driver's

If I remember my driver's education training correctly...one can turn left on red from a one-way street to another one-way street unless posted "no turns on red".

Turning left on red onto a one way is legal here in Texas unless a sign says not too. -AD

Not legal in CA. I had a friend got a ticket for that. I always follow: red-STOP, green-GO, yellow-SPEED UP to clear or SLOW DOWN to STOP.

As others have said, totally legal in Texas, one-way to one-way, unless Posted not to. Of course, it is only from the single farthest left lane to the nearest left lane.

Unless it's a "jughandle" in N.J. and then your screwed. Many GPS units either don't recognize these or the mapping software is out of date.

In Maryland, a friend of

In Maryland, a friend of mine is a State Trooper. I posed the question to him and he said that in Maryland you can make a Left on Red "IF" you are "ON" a One-Way street and turning left onto another One-Way street.

Most people have no idea it is legal. At least I never knew it.

delta123, It does appear to be legal in CA. at least according to calrayray's post and the link to the DMV site. You might check with your friend and see what they REALLY got hit for, seems like it was more likely posted for no turns or failure to come to a complete stop...
