Newbie to POI Factory

Hi everyone.... just found this site from the Yahoo group link. It's Great I wished I found it earlier. I live in Bucks county Pa. and we have allot of covered bridges that local motorcycle groups do a tour of. I wanted to do one with just one other bike. I downloaded the "bridges POI" and it has all the coverd bridges on it!!! Can't wait to try it!!!

Thanks

MOMS HOOKED

My mother is a Snow Bird, and has arrived in FL (yea ??)

She saw my Garmin C330, and spent the next whole day telling me what a waste it was.

A few days later, I took her with to a Dr. Appt, and then shopping, She got directions to a place I never heard of, and I programmed it into the GPS.
She insisted we use her notes, and got lost really quickly due to road construction by the airport.
I told her to watch, and told GPS to "GO"

Some minor improvements

I reformated the main POI files page today to make it a little easier to read. It now has thumbnail images, location count and notes for each category.

Next on the list will probably be the discussion forums. The message lists are pretty ugly and hard to use.

If I do a good job, perhaps more of you will post some messages smile

How do you survive with no ads and no fees?

Hello Jonathan and Maryann,
Something puzzles me so I thought I'd ask. How do you pay for this site and advertising with no ads and no fees? Just want to say thanx for your generosity and time you spend on this site.

Hello everyone

Hello. I'm eagerly waiting for my new Garmin c330 to arrive on Monday. I found a good price on PCNation.com. I can't wait to try it out.

I fell in love with a GPS while on vacation in Scotland in September. The rental car had one built in and it made life much easier. The GPS made navigation in a foreign country very easy and worry-free.

Great website. I can't wait to try out the POI's that I've downloaded here. They are loaded on an SD card and ready to go. Thank you for offering them at no cost.

10/14 - What's happening at POI Factory

This week we added new categories for Canadian Cities, US Rapids, and additional locations to red light cameras. There are plenty more interesting places to add in the future, so make sure you check back every once in a while to see what's new.

Behind the scenes, I've been getting ready to enhance POI Factory's download functionality so that you can choose smaller areas instead of the whole United States. Some of the files are pretty large, and many of you have been requesting splits for a state or region. I've been splitting them with software on my desktop PC, but I need to write some code so this can run automatically on the web site.

New to POI

Hello all. I'm new to the POI concept and trying to apply to my new Nuvi 660. Seems easy enough, but I hope I can call for help if needed.

Great site...thanks for the information!

Hi.

Just wanted to say Hi to all. Came across the link on Garmin web site.

Early adventures with GPS

Thought I would share a little about me to get these discussion forums active.
One of the first adventures I had using a GPS was when my husband handed a GPS-V to me and said, “why not let the GPS get you to your mommy playgroup.” This was quite a while ago, and the model I was using was not as advanced as the one I have now – it thought that someone’s private farm was a road that I could drive through.

Hello and thank you Miss POI !

Just ordered my Garmin streetpilot i3 and did a search and found your site! All I can say is wow I am impressed. It is people like you that make the internet great. Can't wait to test out my new GPS. I spent many hours researching and heard many good things about the i3 so hopefully it is all I heard about.

Just a Hello & Thanks

Hi,

Found the SITE searching for POI on Google.

I had Magellan GPS in my car for last 6 years & it was great but getting maps/POI updated required sending it back to manufacturer & was not cheap ! Also being not portable, I was in market for new GPS. Choice was between TT910 & Nuvi 660 & based on reviews & users comments went for NUVI 660. So far I am happy with my choice & ability to add requirede POI is a great feature. Also road names being read out while driving allows you to focus on road rather than on screen.
