I am new to both this website and to POI so please excuse any mistakes I may make or seemingly silly questions I may ask.

I'm told I have a Christmas present awaiting me when I return home; a newer Garmin 2720 to replace my venerable but aging StreetPilot III. As the grand lady SP3 had no POI capability this is an entirely new and fascinating world opening up to me. I can't wait to see just what the 2720 can do.

Recently purchased the Nuvi350 and am totally confused with the POI thing. I would love to have places to eat and shop added to it however I have several concerns.

Recently my husband and I wanted to go out to dinner and when I knew the place was very close I decided to play with my new gadget, however after doing a search it did not find the closer restaurant, instead it found the one that was 10 miles away. Why is this?

I've had a Garmin ForeRunner 102 for sometime now that I use to Mountain Bike with. Well, as I was passing by today I noticed a Local Police car sitting in a section off the road. This is a known spot that they always sit and like to use Radar at. Well, I had my ForeRunner with me and decided to take the coordinates down so I could set it up as a Speed Zone in my c340. Well, I got these coordinates but I do not know how to enter them into Google Earth. Could someone help me on this one. Here are the coordinates. There set up in some format I don't understand.

I have no experiience with POI's...where is it suggested to start and get experience...I have a StreetPilot C340.

I just purchased a NUVI 350 to replace an i-que 3600..I think I'm going to really like it!!! The GMT traffic receiver is going to be interesting and I hope it works as well as I think it will...??

I hope I made the right choice my c330 didn't see couple of new developments by my house and didnt find my girlfriend's house. Are there anyother advantages for the c530? Thank You guys

I am a traveling service technician and have over 250 sites I am responsible for. I have all of the addresses in an Excel document. Is there any easy way to either directly upload these addresses or to get their lat/lon to create a POI .csv? If I have to enter each one into Google Earth to get the lat/lon then I should just enter then directly into the GPS. Thanks.

I'm working on some web site administration "stuff" to get everything in order before the holidays.

There are some behind-the-scenes tasks I've been handling manually that need to be automated. Getting them out of the way will free more of my time to work on parts of the site that are visible. It will also let me spend a little extra time with family around the holidays.

I'm still checking forums and email regularly for questions.

Anyone ever been to Sturgis using their GPS?

Have you created any POI's prior to or during the trip?

I would like to see them if you have them. If not, I plan on going in August'07 and have already started creating the file which will begin in Northern Virginia and will include such POI's as the Rock and Roll Hall of fame and some really good "road kill" cafe's along the way.

ive used google earth to create poi. is there and advantage to buying google earth plus or only google pro (which is way to expensive)? does google earth plus link with mapsource v 6 ?

by the way there is an update to garmin mapsource v 6

Anyone interested in beta testing the POI database module I've been building?

This first release is best suited for smaller projects where coordinates are entered by hand. Local attractions or special interest locations would be good candidates.

I expect you'd find it's easier than building POI files with Excel or Notepad. It's not yet as easy as building them with Google Earth.

I'd like to try it out on one or two projects before opening it up to a larger group of people. It should be ready for beta testing to start on Thursday.

id like some feed back on the Garmin Travel Guide, Fodor's North America (SD Card). has anyone use it and if so an evaluation

I'm just starting to learn my nuvi 660. I went to Googleearth and found the lat & long of a friend on the coast of FL. WhenI typed in the 6 numbers, the last 1 was cut off, did do something wrong? My friend lives about a mile from the ocean, but after putting in the info, I checked the gps map and it put him in the ocean about 2 miles out, why?

I,ve been MIA for way over a week. My Computer crashed and I had to wait for a motherboad shipment. Got up and running but It,s not running right yet.Defect on the board. Waiting to get another Motherboard to replace this one. The machine keeps shuting down on its own. God I miss being on the net and this web site. Hope to get it resolved soon
