Routing Distance

I have noticed while traveling to my daughter's house and back again that on the main road the voice will tell me continue driving point 6 miles (incorrect distance) and then correct itself within seconds and say continue driving point 3 miles and correct itself again as I get close to my first turn and say prepare to turn left in approxiamtely 360 yards which is correct.
Anyone know why this is happening? Is anyone else experiencing this?

possible could be a road that it thinks is there (and might have been there when the software was updated) but isn't there. Other than that have no clue. What GPS unit do you have?
