Avoiding certain Roads

Is there anyway to tell the Gamin Nuvi 660 to avoid roads with traffic lights. I recently went to King of Prussia ,Pa from Dutchess County in NY & it sent me over a road with 15+ miles of stop & go with light after light, instead of staying on the NJ turnpike then picking up the Pa turnpike. It was terrible. Although my preferred rout is further, it is definitely faster.

be careful of that PA

be careful of that PA turnpike, once you get on it it will never let you off. The first time Jon and I got on that road on accident we wound up driving an extra hour because it went for so long without an exit. I really miss King of Prussia, this summer you will have to have a Italian water ice for Jon and I.
We lived in Phoenixville for 5 years, I am not missing the snow though.

Avoid certain roads

My own experience with the nuvi660 (gained on the left coast) suggests the nuvi differentiates routes via the Navigation icon and the option "Faster Time" or "Shorter Distance" or "Off Road" (the latter is a straight line, virtually worthless for us urbnanites). Ergo, I'd suggest your "stop & go" experience was "Shorter Distance", and "Faster Time" would have routed you onto the turnpike. I recently traveled between two points less than five miles apart...I basically knew the route...the device took me a new way, a bit further (per a real map) but presumably faster as the shorter route entailed a multitude of traffic lights and a major street normally encumbered with lots of traffic. I'm not suggesting the nuvi "knew" about that days traffic, just that it chose my route as I had invoked "Faster Time".

Besides the faster time or shorter distance, their is also settings for avoidances such as highways, traffic etc. Check to see what your setting are under the wrench sign.

Avoiding certain Roads

Route Preference was: Faster Time
Avoidances was: Traffic,U-Turns,Ferries

They really need to add Trafic Lights as an Avoidance!!
