First negative route

Went from Mt Airy NC to a NC location nearly 2 hours away west of there , not in a town, along a river. Route ended up going north up through Virginia, then west - as there were no E/W roads in that area of northern NC.
That, and there were a couple roads Garmin didn’t know about, and, I had gravel roads ignored, and would you believe it? Destination was 1-2 miles on a gravel road along side a river!
Garmin route got progressively longer than needed.
Boonies!
This was first time iPhone out did Garmin! By 35 min! We switched.
On start of route back, I turned off gravel road ignore…. And that’s when we discovered Garmin didn’t see or want to use - other paved roads, that were shorter for the route - that iPhone used! Lotsa rural roads were seen! Went back via iPhone, through Virginia again, too! Saved 25 min.

Next time in deep boonies, will check both devices

A 2689LMT in both our cars that we love...

Check the ferry setting

On my 2689 there is a setting to avoid ferries which I was unaware of until driving from Charleston SC to Williamsburg VA. Sure enough the GPS took me to a ferry. It probably would have been the shortest time except I arrived as the ferry was leaving the dock. Naptime!!!!

Did you have an opportunity to visit the Andy Griffith museum or enjoy a bologna sandwich while there? Or even have your picture taken with Andy and Opie? wink
