All here is my formal RFI to the PDGA for thier information. I am sure allot of you can craft better wording etc. Also I am a member of good standing with the PDGA for over 28 years...so my langauge and wording is tempered to that end...

Request for Information (RFI)

Sorry folks, but the search engine in this software is next to useless. I wanted to find out if there is a POI file for Borders and/or Barnes & Noble. Can anyone tell me how to construct a search or find a web page that will answer that question?

When people do poi's for the usa why do they leave the city and or state out of the address. I could understand for one's for a certain state, but I think it would be more helpful when that info is there for ones covering the whole USA.

This is the place to talk about things that are not gps related, you can discuss whatever you would like, as long as it is clean. Remember we have families that have their children involved in the GPS fun and we don't want to make parents feel uncomfortable when their children ask what that word means.

Adcusnret, Sometimes someone will shine for a week and some will shine for months. You are one of those that is not active all the time but when you are active you really contribute a lot.

Wow, Mapquest did better then my garmin and google maps.

in google maps and garmin, it puts you on 258 NORTH, not south, but mapquest got it right.

I just got my Mapsource disk and installed it. My question is: I created a route and did the tranfer to my 750, but when I went to routes, it's not showing up wtih the name I gave it.

I did a seach, but with 77 pages, and after reading the many comments, couldn't find out where the route went.

I used Google Earth, as well as Google maps to find an address, in Geneva Switzerland and the coordinates it gave me were:
Latitude "46.191804" and Longitude "6.154854"
(Google Earth didn't show a minus(-) at the beginning of the Longitude.

I was wondering if someone could tell me a quicker way to get coordinates than manually writing them down from Google Earth. I figure if I am already pointing my mouse at a desired location, shouldn't there be a way to click and copy those coordinates to the computer's clipboard?

Hi everyone! I'm Rob. I just bought my Jeep Trail Guide the other day, and now I'm just waiting for it to come in! For those of you not familiar with it, it's basically a rebadged Garmin Quest 2 along with a custom base that mounts to my Jeep Wrangler's dash that charges the unit, and has built in speakers...it can get a little loud in a Jeep without the doors or top on!

Just wondered if anyone would be interested in organizing a meet with all VA (or anyone else) GPSr users. We could meet at a well known public restaurant (such as Outback) and have dinner at a location that is central to everyone. It would be fun to go somewhere that no one has been too (but can be verified). It would give us something to talk about during dinner, how we did/didn't get lost.

Does anyone know how to file a report for roads that no longer exist so they can be updated when the new map software becomes available. The road I am referring to has not been used in over 10 years so I would think the location should be already updated but it is not as of the 2008 software update from Garmin.

How can I program my GPS to route me around floods ?? (Just kidding!)

We were planning a trip starting tomorrow, going through Oklahoma City, Dallas and Austin. Anybody live in/near those areas with advise on how travel is likely to be in a couple of days ??

I am a newbie to the site. I am not a newbie to GPS' though.

I used to own an older Magellan GPS, and used it quite frequently to go on trips, and a few geocaching hunts. I traded up to a Dell Axim x50v with the GPS add-on and used it very frequently until I updated it from Windows Mobile '03 to '05 and the bluetooth became very flakey and unreliable, so....time to upgrade again.

New to the site and new to the world of GPS. I just got a Magellan Maestro 3225, and love it. Looking forward to learning more about GPS on this site.
