Wiki page testing for General Maintainers

General Maintainers

JM and I have started to make pages that can be edited using the wiki style tools.

We have started a General Maintainers’ Handbook, which is located here: http://www.poi-factory.com/node/11535

We have not incorporated a reference tab from the home page yet. We want to play with this new feature for a while before spotlighting it.

Floods in Texas

How can I program my GPS to route me around floods ?? mrgreen (Just kidding!)

We were planning a trip starting tomorrow, going through Oklahoma City, Dallas and Austin. Anybody live in/near those areas with advise on how travel is likely to be in a couple of days ??

Magellan Maestro 4250// MIO C310X

Another newbie....

I am a newbie to the site. I am not a newbie to GPS' though.

I used to own an older Magellan GPS, and used it quite frequently to go on trips, and a few geocaching hunts. I traded up to a Dell Axim x50v with the GPS add-on and used it very frequently until I updated it from Windows Mobile '03 to '05 and the bluetooth became very flakey and unreliable, so....time to upgrade again.

Newbie

New to the site and new to the world of GPS. I just got a Magellan Maestro 3225, and love it. Looking forward to learning more about GPS on this site.

Newby

Hey All. New to the forum. Got my first GPS (a Legend) from my oldest daughter and started Geo-caching.

Got my C550 just recently after a friend let me borrow his C340 for a trip to Texas. The C550 was pointed out by the same friend.

I look forward to all the things I might learn here.

Thanks,

costco deals 3/19/08

The Garmin nuvi 650 is the unit costco is offering for $299 not the nuvi 660 as mentioned in a earlier post.

Idahs Activities

Ralphy1, I live in Utah and go to Idaho alot during the year. Your POI about activities is good but one comment, I think it would be more helpful if yu had it sorted by month so someone could just look at the months then plan ways to enjoy the fun. Not trying to be criticul the same goes for your one about Calf. Still good work I know these is alot of time envolved.

Windmill Question

I tried to find answer to this question searching forums with no luck.

I was just wondering about the windmill PIC on right and its importance on this site.....

Dont drink and drive. Be aware of low flying aircrafts. Drive as fast as you can and go to Jail.

Large Parks

Does anyone know about POI files for large parks that have several entrances and things to see? It seems that one generic point doesn't work for most large parks.

Lost in Arizona....

This is a true story.

Your Portion Of Light Whether you are a brilliant flame or but a tiny spark matters not-for the world needs whatever portion of light is yours to give.

Hello

I just got a Nuvi 200 and am trying to learn all it can do. This site seems to be a great source of information and I am glad to be here.

How close (alert distance)

How close to the POI (ie traffic camera) before you get an alert. I notice that at one spot on my trip home from work, I get an alert from the next street over.

Chatty Charley thread for the week of March 17th 2008

This is the place to talk about things that are not gps related, you can discuss whatever you would like, as long as it is clean. Remember we have families that have their children involved in the GPS fun and we don't want to make parents feel uncomfortable when their children ask what that word means.

Have fun...

This thread will be closed on Monday and a new one will be opened.

Contributors of the week 2008-03-10

Will try my GPS in Spain

grin I am leaving for Spain tomorrow. I bought and installed the Garmin City Navigator NT Europe DVD.

I also loaded about 27,000 custom POIs for Spain, mainly the radars (radares), gas stations (gasolineras) and places to see (que ver). I built a few POIs for my hotels and other places I want to visit.

Common Problems can only be solved with Uncommon Solutions

Another DUH Question (csv + mp3)

When I download a POI such as Baseball Parks.cvs and then add the Baseball Parks.bmp is that all I have to do to for it to work? And if it had a sound like the "crack of a bat" followed by a verbal and the download was Baseball Parks.mp3 would that be correct for the whole thing to work right? On some of these POIs the .cvs and the .bmp and .mp3 are different. Do some files have to be renamed?

campgrounds

Hi just wondering if anybody has poi for saskatchewan, alberta. campgrounds or rv parks tks lucky

Directions from "B" to "C"

I like to do a route in segments: A to B, and then B to C, etc. (separate files)over a period of two days (or more, ...I assume the same routine would apply to multiple trips/routes).

The A to B route is simple.

Is there a simple way for me to do a B to C route (without being at location/point B? )
