I was watching a show on the possibility of time travel, string theory, etc on Discovery channel last night and there was a segment on time relative to gravitational force. Since GPS sattelites are subject to less gravity than here on earth, their internal clock runs faster than here. While a very miniscule difference (1/50,000 of a sec.), the GPS system corrects for the time differential.

I just got back from a trip to Tucson today and this was the first time I experienced a lag time in my Nuvi rerouting me due to traffic issues from MSN. There is major highway work going on in Tucson and every exit is closed except the first and last exit. MSN correctly showed the closed exits if you look at the traffic screens, but my 680 didn't reroute me until after I passed the first exit.

I would like to know how to post a picture on this site.

I have an amazing picture that is made by a GPS route.

Is their an easy way to see if Other people's pois are close to mine? I have created a couple of them, but am unsure of posting them. example: I have a file for campgrounds, and stateparks, but would hate to duplicate someone else's.

They have added 10 cameras in 7 locations. In the past 14 days the have ticketed 1100. That's over 75 a day @ $125 per. Guess they won't have to raise taxes after all.

We went On I80 to get to Missouri from Michigan. The first time wasn't bad, but on the way home with heaving rain we ran into a bad jam. About 15 inches of water was under a bypass. I was very nervous driving though it.

If my math is right, next week or the week after will mark the start of our third year. I have been watching Miss POI "member since history" and for the second week in a row she has been a member for 1 year and 50 weeks. This is the place to talk about things that are not gps related, you can discuss whatever you would like, as long as it is clean. Remember we have families that have their children involved in the GPS fun and we don't want to make parents feel uncomfortable when their children ask what that word means.

I just replaced my old cell phone with a Samsung Instinct from Sprint. Basically it's an iPhone knockoff, but with a few more features that I like. It comes with navigation capability. So here's my question. Does anyone know who Sprint's GPS provider is? The splash screen has TeleNav in very small letters on it. I know TeleAtlas, and I know Navteq. But I've never heard of TeleNav.

Any idea how much memory jpeg's eat up on this unit? Also, even though the download from my computer is in the correct order, the unit seems to ignore that in slide show mode. Any suggestions?

Does any one have ideas of great ways to use our GPS to explore the state of Georgia or have some great places that they like and want to share.

The settings for the Petro in Gadsden, AL are wrong. Trust me I got to know the State Hiway Patrolman that lives in the apartments at the end of the DEAD END road that it leads you to. Lets just say he's NOT very nice at all. But like he said "it's a good thing that this is not his juradiction and he was off duty" now the local officer of Gadsden that showed up he was real cool.
