Hello Poi Factory Members,

I've been a member awhile but seem to have spent all my time here absorbing rather than contributing. Wow, what a wealth of information!

New Savings Account

Hey Folks,

here's a place that can save you some CASH on speeding tickets even though I KNOW NONE OF YOU WOULD EVER SPEED! wink Think of it as a savings account and when used in conjunction with the Red light Camera POI file, well heck, you might just save enough money to purchase a brand new GPS hot off the assembly line each year.

Ok, so enough flapping my gum's, here's the link:

Tread Wear!

smile Thanks to iceman2k4 for the info on tires.

I am not sure if you are also aware of tread wear number. You will see a tread wear number on the tire that ranges from 200 to 695. The marking usually will indicate that for each 100 it represent 1 year of tire wear. For a tread wear of 600 it would last 6 years.

I hope this is informative.

new member/ best gps between $200-250

I'm a new member and I need your advice on available GPS's. I have three models in mind they are MAGELLAN 1412, GARMIN NUVI 255w and GARMIN NUVI 260w. I am limited to 250.00. I need some input on these models. I don't need any bells and whistle. Thank You

Time for change!

Ok, I don't know about the rest of you here buuuuuut, I'm ready for a NEW PICTURE of Miss POI! (LOL) Mind you, the old one isn't hard to look at but, surely Miss POI can't remain ageless FOREVER?! wink

So what do you all think? Is it time for her to give a new face or what?!

Computers with 64-bit processors

I have been considering purchasing a new computer and find that the latest technology is 64-bit processors running on windows vista.

Has anyone had experience using any gps related software with these new systems?

I would like to here success stories as well as problems encountered.

Sending Christmas Cards

Saw this on another web site and wanted to pass it on to all the good people here:

When doing your Christmas cards this year, take one card and send it to this address. If we pass this on and everyone sends one card, think of how many cards these wonderful special people who have sacrificed so much would get.

Nuvi 260 diagnostics

FYI: I used the "battery" icon to get into Diagnostics on my Garmin Nuvi 260. When I exited and tried to use my Nuvi, the voice I had been using, "Jill," was totally garbled. I was able to resolve the problem by simply going to the list of voices, selecting another voice and trying it. That worked so I went back and re-selected "Jill" and she worked okay.

POI Factory is the best

I wanted to thank all of you for the posts you have made. I have a zumo550 and wanted the Harley Stores in it but found out since Harley has a garmin tradmarked for them they wont put the stores in the common models. But thanks to you guy I have an updated list in zumo550. I also hated the favorites section because it list them all, but now i made poi's for work family harley stores ect.

PDA/Smartphone GPS

Does anybody have feedback on GPS phones such as, verizon's, or blackberry storm, or iphone. I have a Garmin 760, and dont plan on ditching it for anything. However, My fiance is in need of a GPS, but is getting a Verizon Blackberry Storm with GPS built in. She would only use it occasionally. I was just wondering if it was a viable option, or should i still get her a gps, like nuvi 265 or such.

WAV announcement locked on Home On The Range

I used Home On The Range for my 1st WAV file on a Garmin 260 & now it plays instead of the "wanted" WAV files. It plays @ the correct distance setting but not the WAV file I want. The HOTR WAV file is not on the memeory card. How can I get rid of it? Thanks

Time Zone Alert

Could someone make a sound for the Time Zone file? A ticking clock sound would be nice.

Best GPS

Hi,
I wanted to know if anyone knows which GPS is the best available in the market right now in terms of its functions and ease of use. Are there any GPS that allows you to set the toll settings such that you can use the least amount of tolls possible? Please give me some advice with regards to this topic. Thank you

Contributors of the Week 2008-11-10

This week we are recognizing Thrak.

This recognition is not only for the great contributions that you are always making but it is about that very special one that you made back in July.

You posted this thread: http://www.poi-factory.com/node/16082 letting us know about an oportunity to get a free Garmin Nuvi 200.

Chit Chat Thread for the week of November 17, 2008

This is the place to talk about things that are not gps related, you can discuss whatever you would like, as long as it is clean. Remember we have families that have their children involved in the GPS fun and we don't want to make parents feel uncomfortable when their children ask what that word means.

Have fun...

This thread will be closed on Monday and a new one will be opened.

Miss POI

when did googlemaps start using teleatlas?

I did a couple of searches and seems like google is now using teleatlas (tomtom) rather than navteq (garmin)
