Sparky for the COW Award!

I would like to put up sparky's name for the COW Award. I think that he has been very faithfull to the POI Factory. He is always ready to make us smile. I think that he would look good beside our Windmill.

Getting started question.

Great site! I have searched, but have not found an answer to this question.

I know that downloaded and transferred POIs will be saved as "custom" POIs and will not effect "built-in" POIs. I need to know if they will overwright and replace the POIs that were loaded with my Mapsource Recreational lakes map software? Thanks for the help.

free traffic alerts in major cities

http://www.traffic.com/
Using the Custom POI feature on my GPS, I created a “favorite” about ten miles ahead of where I anticipated traffic might become an issue entering each city. I also created a category called “traffic check” for each of these locations to be stored in. The point I picked was just before where my alternate route split off from my intended route.

Does anyone has voices for the Nuvi 1350T? If so, how can I download them and put them in my GPS? Can anyone point me to the right direction as to how to create or edit voices to personalize it? I will appreciated any help. Thanks

I own both devices and for now I will stick with my GPSr for navigation.

POI Newbie; Want to Gain Active Status

Brand new here and looking to enhance our new Garmin Nuvi 760 with some POI's other than the standard fare. Upgraded from Nuvi 360 by necessity, not by choice. Had car vandalized while on vacation last week and the "old" one was stolen.

Very much interested in the red light camera POI since I travel for business.

Garmin 750 vs TomTom 720

I was in Sam's Club and saw the Garmin 750 for $299.99 and the TomTom 720 for $294.99. Based on all features, easy of use and any other factors, which one is the best GPS to buy? Let's hear the pro's and con's

Garmin's discontinued Nüvi's and other models...

Hi all Nüvi owners,

I discovered, much to my dismay, that Garmin is discontinuing the following Nüvi models, as well as other units.

The discontinued Nüvi models are:
The Nüvi 350, 360, 370, 600, 610, 650, 660 and the 670.

Here's the link for all of the Garmin discontinued models:

Trans Canada Hwy map outdated for New Brunswick

So on a trip through New Brunswick last week I found the new Trans Canada sections weren't represented very well for most of the trip from Quebec to Fredricton. I think my maps are only a year old and I thought most of those highway changes were at least a couple years old. Any New Brunswick locals have this problem? If so, do the 2008 maps address the problem?
Thanks,
Rob

Miss Poi, where is "Outside the Forum?"

In the node about stars coming out, you mentioned old faithful members helping with model spec pages or something like that.

Where would that be?

I found many types of GPS mounts...reasonablly priced

I found a company online that carried many types of TT as well as other brands of GPS mounts and accessories that (I think) are reasonablly priced. Check out SEMSONS.COM in California. I ordered TT mount parts that I will use to make my own 'custom' mount for my vehicle for less than $4.00 and was only charged First Class postage to ship! Just wanted to share.

'Recent Posts' Question

I was wondering if anyone could tell me whether there is a way to view the last post/discussion I have written in. I know you can go to your recent posts, but this only shows what you have posted a comment on and when it was last updated. However, the posts are listed in the order by which they are updated; whether that be by me or someone else.

adult club file is not correct, many different addresses, all the same coords

was browsing the poi files and came across this one

http://www.poi-factory.com/node/14034

adult clubs in the us, opened the file to find 20 to 30 different addresses all have the same coords. i emailed the maintainer to look into it but it appears that the coords go by state. so the file is no good.

Chit Chat Thread for the week of August 04, 2008

This is the place to talk about things that are not gps related, you can discuss whatever you would like, as long as it is clean. Remember we have families that have their children involved in the GPS fun and we don't want to make parents feel uncomfortable when their children ask what that word means.

Have fun...

This thread will be closed on Monday and a new one will be opened.
