Hi All: Just wanted to know if anyone could tell me how to download the sound alerts in the POI files and then how do you get the sounds coordinated with the file in the garmin nuvi 760? Thanks for your help.

I there any way that we could upload altered voice files, basemaps etc from POIFactory like we do POI"s?

I downloaded a POI file and with the poi loader had it put on my GPS device. How do I find out if it is actually there and see what I have put on the device?

I will be flying to the US from Canada and would like to take my gps on board with me. I would like to know if anyone has had any trouble with the customs people either coming or going at the airport over ther gps. I would hate to have to leave my gps at the airport. Just because some customs officer thinks I should not have it on board.

Well, I'm heading to Watkins Glen in the Finger Lakes region of NY this weekend for a BMW motorcycle rally. Been there a dozen times, so it should be a no-brainer. But trying a different route this time, through back roads I'm not familiar with. And horror of horrors...no GPSr. I've been toying with getting a Zumo for the bike, but just never have gotten around to it.

After much searching for the high capacity clsss 6 microSDHC card online, I found the Adata card. After I run the latest update to my Nuvi 880 software, I will plug the card in. Then I can add as many POI files, and maps, as I want. I will even get a few of the Audible.com books for the GPSr!

I'm very new to downloading POIs but I've grabbed several to try out. I noticed that for Barnes & Noble and for Applebees that after loading, the nearest locations are around 500 miles from my West Michigan home. The files didn't indicate which areas were covered to the best of my recollection.
Am I missing something or are these just incomplete for the U.S.?

This applies to my Garmin Nuvi 680, but I put it here, because it is actually a more general issue that applies to removable drives or devices in general.

I was having trouble using my Nuvi at work. It seems Windows was assigning it to an already used (by our network) drive letter. So no access to the Nuvi for anything.

Is there a way to see your custom POI's when searching in the factory POI section, or are the two groups mutually exclusive?

As I understand it, if I want to search them, I need to go to "extras" then "custom poi's" then search there.

Does keeping my Garmin in my vehicle all the time, meaning during summer and winter effect or damage the unit?
