That was really a waste of two minutes.

So he thinks Onstar is better than the other devices he tested. Why would that spark conversation?

LOL

May be because you didn't agree with him?

Nice link. Thanks.

Nice link. Thanks.

I prefer Garmin / TomTom over all else, but nice to see a comparison nonetheless.

No, it's a waste of time because the reviewer doesn't provide any actual information. I could just as easily put up a youtube video saying "I like TomTom, the others are junk". Does that prove anything or provide any value to someone looking for a GPS device?

Onstar, Whats your Emergency?

Well lets just say,
like I said in the first place.
It should spark some conversation. and you proved it to be true! I never said I agreed with him, I just knew it would put a spark in the brand loyalists, because their brand wasn't mentioned or didn't do well with him.

Doesn't even seem like you

Doesn't even seem like you can compare OnStar to GPSr's.

But that's just me...

Onstar has a lot of holes in its coverage area.

Onstar has a lot of holes in its coverage area; moreover, the other Sat. systems don't have these holes.

When it comes to comparing

When it comes to comparing gps you'll never get everyone to agree. I thnk each on has it's good and bad points. I three and find this with all three. Do like the onstar feature that you can talk to a live person when needed.

I Found it Very Informative

I've heard of onstar, but never quite go it. This is pretty cool.

Useful

Without specifics I would have to say this was a waste

GPS Shootout

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I have mine. This is not an unbias comparision.

Other Videos

There are quite a few more videos on that page, some of which do actual comparisons. Some of the conclusions don't match my own tastes, but it's interesting anyway. Some of the other, lesser known brands, have some interesting features not offered by Garmin.

Onstar is only a Factory Installed Option

Not much of a comparison. Onstar is a factory installed option from GM, so if you don't own a car that had it installed at a GM factory, you can't get it.

I plan to live forever. So far, so good.

Good news!

I was looking at getting rid of my 2720. I'm going to run down and have Onstar installed on my F250.

Nice Video!

I would think that was a nice review, but he doesn't give any indication why he picked Magellan and OnStar above the others. Not a very good review I'd say.

Personally as far as OnStar goes, I'd prefer not to call a live person and have to tell them where I'm going each time I want to navigate somewhere. Not to mention the $300/year.

No cell service, No Onstar

Onstar does offer a few nice features, like lock-out service (I've needed that more then once), and crash detection, but Navigation is not one of the features that I would rely on. Get off of the interstate and onto Americas highways and see how well Onstar navigation works. Try taking the Onstar to another vehicle or boat.

Re: GPS Shoot Out!

All I can say is what I say often: Try for yourself. What you like could be different than what the heard does. wink

Getting a unit from a store with good return policies definitely helps.
