Does new content take a while to appear?

Hi:

Yesterday I uploaded some new content, a POI file of the data in my website (ridetoeat.com) in CSV and GPX formats.

It doesn't appear in the list... so I was wondering if it is normal for some delay. I assume content from people who haven't posted before may be moderated before going "live", and I'm fine with being patient... just wondering what to expect.

General Maintainer

Noticed that for at least the last 2 weeks my profile reads:

Progress toward general maintainer

Over the past 26 weeks, you have qualifying activity in 13 week(s).

My question is why doesn't the 13 weeks get bumped on a weekly basis?

commenting on POI files

how do you comment on a POI file ?

It seems that only way is to see who is supporting it, lookup their profile, and send them an email.

I wish there was an adjunct discussion for each POI files so you could see comments, updates, errors, etc.

Information Wants to Be Free?

So, I’m in the process of assembling a POI file and I’m trying to navigate what’s allowed and what’s not allowed in the compilation of what essentially is a database.

New

Hi, garmin freak.
I own alot of garmins, get them with corrupted software for cheap and reload the software.

I do have one question though, will these POI's work with handhelds? Ive swapped software( city nav for topo and also for water but never any POI's to the handheld. My car units are loaded with POI's and works fine.

beware of rain water

with all the deluge of water collecting on the road like we had here in Atlanta, you should opt to stay vigilant - i was NOT

ATT & iPhone Service

Not sure where to post this.
I have finally reached my limit w/ Sprint/Nextel.
I am considering ATT w/ the iPhone.
What are your likes and dislikes w/ either the phone or AT&T?
I am a truck driver and am tired of the dropped calls and dead zones. Can I expect better service w/ AT&T? Or does my cash need to go to Verizon?
Thanks for the understanding and comments.

GIS/GPS in schools

I ran across this article in an online education journal about the use of GIS/GPS technology in K12 education. It has links to other interesting articles on this topic.

stolen GPS (email about GPS and garage opener)

I received email about a vehicle burglary while the family attended a football game. Stolen were the GPS & garage door opener. They arrived home to find TV & other stuff missing. The police said the thieves probably used the gps to find HOME, then parked their car or van inside while they looted, knowing the family would not be home soon.

Just wondering.

USFS Roads

I have recently tried using my GPS on Forest Service roads. This was not a good experience.
These roads are way out of date......
The Navtech highway maps should not be used on the USFS road system.
