especially 2 of my co-worker friends who lost there lives.

Garmin Nuvi With Slacker Radio Application

I have a Garmin StreetPilot 2730 and a Garmin Nuvi 500 right now. The 2730 is capable of XM satellite radio. I also use Slacker Radio service http://www.slacker.com/ I was thinking that if Garmin and Slacker Radio were to partner up that this could be a good alliance. Many GPS devices already have MP3 players, so I don't think adding Slacker Radio would be that big of a leap.

Automobile GPS Habits

I am just curious if more people here:

-Run there GPS in the vehicle most of the time when driving, or

-Leave it off or even store it out of sight until you need it?

Happy triple 9

That's 9/9/09

Have a very lucky day!

Contributors of the Week 2009-08-31

This week we are recognizing Moose135, Jeff1140, Dobs108 & Bluesubaru.

These 4 members did one great job in assisting me with the Nassau County New York red light camera updates over the last few weeks.

I just want to let you guys know that I really have felt like I had a top notch team making sure that I had the correct info.

Happy Labor Day.

Just a short note to wish everyone on the POI Factory a Happy Labor Day. Hope you are all having nice weather today.

Gadget Makers Can Find Thief, but Don’t Ask

Please reference Extra_POI_Editor on main POI page

I see POIedit is referenced on the main POI page for use in converting POI formats.

Extra_POI_Editor also works very well for that and is free and very well supported on this site.

Please also reference it.

Please let me know if I should direct this request someplace else.

Thanks.

VA troopers now using new strategy for speeders

Well, having the POIs for all the crossovers on the Interstate Highways in Virginia won't be much help from now on.

The VA State Troopers are all getting the new handheld Laser Speed detectors. Much more accurate and the beam is extremely narrow when compared to a Radar Unit. It's much harder to beat in court, because you can't claim that it was the vehicle beside you.

Australian English

Changed nuvi voice to Australian English-Karen, originally it sounded quite pleasing, untill I noticed that she’s continuously mispronouncing commonly used words; specifically, “recalculating” or instead of I405, its “I four hundred and five”
Is this on purpose?

Thanks,

WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, ONLY BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE! IN GOD WE TRUST

Hello everyone

I was about to get rid of my old Streetpilot C580 for something a bit more modern, something that could do redlight cameras maybe? So after a brief internet search, a couple of downloads and ta-da, it looks like I will be keeping my faithful 580 just a little while longer. Thanks Poi-factory and I hope to make a contribution to the site.

Labor Day Weekend Trips

With Labor Day weekend right in front of us, what trips are people planning? Is anyone planning to visit someplace new that was posted here?

Police shoot fire chief in court in argument over speed traps

Ticketing tiff ends with courtroom gunfire
Residents fed up with speed traps in tiny town that has seven officers

JERICHO, Ark. - It was just too much, having to return to court twice on the same day to contest yet another traffic ticket, and Fire Chief Don Payne didn't hesitate to tell the judge what he thought of the police and their speed traps.
