Hello All

Hello Everyone,

I just got my first GPS, an entry level Magellen Maestro 3225, and then came across this site. Looks like I'll be doing some research here and hoping I can contribute in some way. I have yet to use the POI editor, but once I figure it out maybe I could start by adding all the mailbox locations around my city. smile

It's a sure thing that you'll learn much about your new 'toy' here. You'll be an old pro in no time!

Well, welcome

Welcome to the site. We're pretty heavy on Garmin but do have users and contributors using other units. As you think you might want to start building POI files, do a lot of reading. Magellan uses a different format than Garmin and Tom-Tom, but Extra_POI_Editor can handle the conversions.

Welcome Aboard!

You have found the right place. Now kick of those shoes, relax with a cuppa tea and enjoy.

Welcome!

Hi Richard,

Welcome to POI-Factory.

Extra_POI_Editor can import Magellan files, but it cannot create them. Sorry. I tried twice and scratched my head a lot, but I cannot figure out some CRC bytes.

If you have any questions about EPE, there are a lot of user here that can help you.

See you in the forums!

Hi all

Got a Nuvi 260W for xmas and I love it. I sometimes disagree but it can change in a jiff and I have learned shortcuts around Washington, DC I never would have tried before.

It is easy to use and hope this site is helpful.

Not helpful at all

I don't think you will find any help here. The files are all hosed and don't load right. The people here are very cliquish and don't like newbies or outsiders - and the SysOp, watch out for her. She isn't known as the Borg Queen for no reason.

Oh, by now you have been assimilated, so you may as well enjoy the addiction - there is no cure or support groups to help kick the habit.

Don' worry

I wouldn't worry to much about the folks that want to keep this a Garmin site, there are plenty of people that can help you with your Magellan. This is a GPS community not necessarily restricted to one make or model.
Please use either the chit chat forum to chit chat or the Magellan forum to pose your questions about your GPS. The more members we can get from different manufactures the smarter shoppers we all become, just by taking off the blinders.
Welcome to our community and Your gonna love your Magellan. Looking forward to your input after you take some of ours.

This site is a great place for GPS info. Welcome@

Thanks for the warm welcome

Thanks for the warm welcome from everyone! I have been enjoying the GPS and have already accessorized with a dash mount bean bag for my unit. It sure makes it easier to stash it when I park the car. Now I just need to decide which map view I like better, 2D vs 3D. smile

If there are other sites, maybe more Magellan specific, I should check out please let me know.

Richard

Welcome

I too am fairly new to this site...thought I would just check in once in awhile. Not so.

Found that as I started to understand the workings of the forum and reading the information, it has become a daily stop.

Great people with a lot of good information.

Enjoy!

Welcome abroad

Great site with great people here. To me this place is like a family. The users here are very friendly.

You'll see more.... I am learning a lot from here.
